When will Christianity and other forms of mythology cease to exist (at least when it comes to power) so that humans as a species can progress at a quicker rate?

mythology is an important part of human culture. Perhaps they will be seen as mythology rather than as truth. But probably there will always be some who believe it literally. That is the way a certain group of people think. It is called "mythic thinking" mythology is the only thing that makes sense to those people.

Sorry man, but that is never going to happen. I would say that the decrease in faith has caused man to regress, we a falling back to our most base aspects of humanity. Glorifying bad things and calling them good. Murder, theft, rape and violent crimes constanly increase as parts of our country try to remove all aspects of faith from public life. One atheist parent doesn't like that our pledge of allegiance aknowledges God, so we give in to them. Appease the few at the expense of the many. So we fight even harder, and are more convinced of the validity of our faith. God is real, and God is good all the time.

Last time I looked in the history books, there were a lot of killing going on by non-religious nations also.
Just a thought for you. Just because you believe in a religious statement or a scientific statement does not make it true.
