IIf my understanding of Revelations is correct, then there will actually be two Raptures.
The first of these upliftings will occur when God Raptures the forgiven. With the forgiven in Heaven, a period called the Tribulation will begin during which those who have found God in the wake of the Rapture, will battle the forces of Satan. This conflict will cumulate with Satan’s forces pouring down the Jezreel Valley, from the city of Megiddo, towards the forces of God, which are afraid around the city of Jerusalem.
Immediately before Satan’s forces breach the defenses of the Christians, God will rapture the defenders, descend to Earth and defeat the forces of Satan, thus beginning the 1,000 year reign of peace.
Since God will rapture all those who die fighting Satan, and who survive until the end of the war, there seem to be no negative consequences to missing the first rapture, so long as you convert afterwards.

On the other hand, by remaining on Earth, and waiting for the second Rapture, there would be the opportunity to gain glory battling the forces of Satan and possibly surviving to see what would be the greatest battle man has ever witnessed. Thus, since God would rapture all those who die in this battle, there seem to be no negative consequences for remaining on Earth, and many benefits in doing so.
Is it wrong to want to wait for the Second Rapture???
