Christians are not stupid, Most of us have gotten proof that god exists. The other night at my church, My pastor couldn't even preach because the church broke out in a whirlwind of tongues and shy people were dancing and screaming words they didn;'t know, my own freind was speaking in tongues and jumping up and down. That's proof that God is alive. Believe what you want but I believe that God is real and when I die I'm going to heaven

That wasn't the first time this happened. Second time in church that I've known of but 5th time if you include our churches youth camp during the summer. Ever read David wilkerson's book, The cross and the Switchblade?

Again with the overcritical comments. I'm not a moron and neither is my church. The peopl were not speaking jibberish they were saying words of a diffrent language. Dancing happened because the holy ghost filled them and they couldn't contain themselves. The people weren't in control of their actions anymore, God was.

No offense, but you have a strange way of proving god exists. I can go down to the local mental hospital and find people screaming and yelling unintelligible, jumping and dancing, etc. The only thing it might prove is that they're all nuts.

Well when I go to church I see the same thing, but I don't feel god. I just kinda go along with the songs and sing a little, and when we're done with that I listen to what the pastor has to say. I don't insult or laugh at him when he is preaching. Even though I may disagree with some of his morals and views on the world today. Religion just doesn't fit into my thought process, many people might feel the same too. It contradicts itself and too many conflicts come out of it, but at the same time it gives hope to people and brings them together. So just respect and tolerate others with different beliefs . You'll be a better person for doing it.

The answer to your first question is that I personally have not been presented with sufficient evidence that he, she it, them exist. Your experience of babel and dancing maybe proof to you, but as someone else said, you can go to just about any insane asylum and find similar reactions from most of the residents there.

To answer your second question, I'm not overly critical of the average, run-of-the-mill Christian beliefs. What I'm critical of is the Christians who believe they must remove the speck from my eye before they remove the log from their own. If you are unfamiliar with that particular little Biblical quote, it means pay more attention to your own spiritual state. If your God is a loving God, I feel pretty confident he, or she or it or them can see to mine without your help. And if your God is not a loving God, then I have to question why you love him so much and have so much faith that he will do right by you.

I think people denying God is based on their own life and experiences. While you may have proof based on what you witnessed in your church, that is a rare and uncommon practice. Being a Christian is about being open and accepting of all, despite their beliefs. Your job as a Christian is to bring people to Him with your words, not your condemnation.

STOP ASSUMING CHRISTIANITY HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH GOD. Christianity and God are two completely different and independent concepts. Although the God described in the Bible is scientifically and logically impossible, that proves nothing about the actual existence of deity.

Don't you get it? Christians do NOT hold a copyright on God! Denying Christianity IS NOT the same thing as being an atheist. ONE CAN BELIEVE COMPLETELY IN GOD AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT CHRISTIANITY IS FALSE. Damn it, I'm so sick of you people!

That doesn't mean god exists, it means your friend is crazy. Sorry if a bunch of people screaming doesn't convince me god exists. I don't wish to DENY god. I have no reason to deny something I don't think exists. Next time, give some scientific proof, not a bunch of crazy people screaming things in another language.

Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
That says it all really. They have hearts of stone. One day they will know the truth, but sadly it will be too late. Keep praying for them, being kind hearted and forgiving.
That is wonderful what happened at your church. Would like to have been in that service! We had a service similar to that about a year ago. My 10 year old daughter was prayed for and anointed and she literally walked on air about three steps and then fell down laughing so hard she almost couldn't breathe! I wasn't the only one who saw it, several others did as well. It was wonderful! Proof that not only does God exist, but he has a sense of humor as well.
God bless you greatly in your walk with Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Amen

For me, deities are entirely not able to be empirically proved on either side of the argument so they are not a part of my life. Also, I have my opinions on the christian religion because that is what I was forced to be growing up until I was old enough to say that is it no more.

As for speaking in tongues.. I've never seen that phenomena but I would relegate that to mass hallucination.

You are certainly entitled to your beliefs and I respect your right to believe in whomever you wish to believe in or what you wish to believe in. Sorry, but your description of the "church breaking out in a whirlwind of tongues" does not convince me whether or not there is a God. You are going to heaven?? Good for you.

So if someone acts abnormally, that is proof of God? That conflicts with your first sentence.

Thomas Jefferson once said, "Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus"
