forget that they attempt and at times succeed in violating the rights of those who don't believe as they do?

Consider:
Evolution
Gay's and Lesbian's
Abortion
Atheist's
Wiccan's
Muslim's

Now, with that list, consider how many times you have heard a Christian denounce, pass laws against, silence, protest, and judge something from that list if not everything on that list. How can a group claim to be mistreated when they mistreat everyone who doesn't believe as they do?How can they be taken seriously when their main argument is "God says it in the Bible and so there is no other way and so you must do what it says in the Bible"?Do they not see the irony? Is the fact that their beliefs are attacked not enough for them to realize that the only reason why their beliefs are attacked is because they use their beliefs to attack everyone who doesn't have those beliefs?Do they not see that in order to be treated equally they must treat those they don't agree with equally?

I was dating a 29yr jewish/persian man for a bit over a year. We had discussed ou different beliefs and respected each others opinion. Soon after his family found out about our serious-ness they turned on him and be then came to resent me. I silently respect him choosing his family wishes over me...however, I can't help but to be angry/recentful at god, religion...and for allowing our sincere feelings to evolve. Was I born into the wrong religion? I don't know what to think....I need closure. Please help me! Anyone.

Sorry, but there has been a crazy amount of "Atheist in foxhole" questions in about the last 20 minutes, and I don't think I should be driving at this point.

Also, I am out of Tequila, anyone out there have something they would like to share.

I am behind on the shots. I was four behind when I started this question, so I am sure by now it is up to 6 or 7.

Cheers everyone.

If God will make sure we get the correct understanding of the Word despite man's bad translations/errors, then why do you take the bible itself literally? It would seem you are more inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Also, how do you decide which bible to take literally?

And finally, why is the bible necessary? If God has the power to convey His message to us through a poorly translated book, why is a book necessary at all?

Many Atheists will say they hate or don't believe in the God described in scripture, but when their lives are at risk, or a truamatic event takes place, they will say "God help Me" or something similar?

Or people who practice religions or beliefs which do not acknowledge the God in scripture, will do the same thing. What does this say about their non-belief in God?

Why not call on the Goddess Tree, the God earth, Budda, moon, sun, the latest new age guru, or the many other things people choose to worship when times are not that bad?

Anyone else notice this? Not all Atheists and non-christians do this, but a lot of them do.

I am curious why Christians always say this. Have any of you ever been in a foxhole? Further, have you ever been in a foxhole with a proclaimed atheist who called on God? How did this saying get started and why is it perpetuated?

Note: My brother is atheist. He just spent a year in Iraq, in the Triangle of Death. I've asked him about this little saying and he laughed. He said he had no use to call on God. It would be a waste of time, hoping for something that won't come, when instead he could spend his time using means that actually could protect his life.

I have heard countless interpretations of the Bible and what it really means. Jesus doesn't really have a big speaking part in the book and He repeats himself. (Love your neighbors, love your enemies more. Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Make loving God more important than anything. Put God and others before material wealth. And a person's heart is more important than their actions.) Not really a lot to dispute or be confused about. So, why are there so many different branches? Since they don't agree and only one way could be correct, which one is it. Who's right?

If these church leaders are all inspired by God, why didn't God inspire them all with the same story? Does God want the masses to be confused?

Why are so many people so against witchcraft and Wicca? I always thought that witchcraft was all about the celebration of the earth and that as far as black magic goes, it is only the user of magic that can sometimes be black, not the magic itself. I'm very interested in peoples' different views on this subject. Please feel free to be as honest as you wish!

In my previous question, I asked why God would allow different English versions of the Bible if the Word is perfect (which doesn't make sense since they can convey different meanings). I was told that man was responsible for the translations and errors.

Was man not responsible for writing , editing, and compiling the bible from the very beginning? If man has the power to be innaccurate of God's word now, what makes you think man didn't back then? Isn't man sinful and selfish? Also the government (the Catholic Church) was in charge of the bible for many centuries, I think over a millenia. Do you think it's impossible they had ulterior motives to control the people and make changes?

Also, I was told the King James Version was the best, but I have also heard criticism that it was not a very good translation.

How would you respond?

** Please note, for sake of argument I'll say God's Word was perfect to begin with before it got to man**
