The "Lady Hope Story", published in 1915, claimed that Darwin had converted to Christianity on his sickbed. The claims were refuted by Darwin's children and have been dismissed as false by historians.[120] His daughter, Henrietta, who was at his deathbed, said that he did not convert to Christianity.[121] His last words were, in fact, directed at Emma: "Remember what a good wife you have been."[122]

I've never heard this rumor.

As to Jenny's comments, they do have a choice. We are all about free choice. We do the work we believe to be "saving ordinances" but the person can either accept it or not. Also, we only submitt the names of our own personal relatives, so unless a member can prove through family history records that they are related to Charles Darwin, it's highly unlikely that he has had his work done.

apparently fake!!! there is not any written record that even shows what Darwin actually ideals have been. yet in Keynes e book Annie's field it explains the end results of his daughter's dying. it is theory to have been the main suitable ingredient in Darwin's renunciation of Christianity. be conscious it is renunciation which could advise he in simple terms renounced it as a faith no longer that he believed it interior the 1st place! yet he could perhaps have been a Christian on the initiating and then renounced it as such particularly some people do right this moment!! Christians make the easy mistake of attempting to declare all of us as Christian yet whilst the certainty is shown it actual harms Christianity for making fake or unverifiable claims!!

That is the first that I heard that one. He grew up in a Christian background and the story went around that he repented and became a Christian. I believe that it is in Lee Stroebel's book "The case for faith" where he looks at that and debunks this.

I don't know if he did before he died ... BUT he may have after he died ..

sounds silly ? yeah it does BUT apparently the Mormons *convert* dead people... there is a more correct term for it but it escapes my mind at the moment .. It is because ( apparently) they want everybody to go to their version of Heaven and names can be submitted and SHIVER ME TIMBERS these dead folk suddenly become mormon .. and they can't really protest against it now can they :D

( this may be proven to be an urban myth , but that is what I have been told also )

TONY: sorry but what choice does your dead relation have to be submitted .. THAT isn't choice that's out and out hijacking.
Yes It is yours, mine or any other LIVING person's choice .. but my great great great great grandparents ???? HARDLY.

Did you mean to say "Moron"?

Anyway, rumours of his death bed conversion are simply that, rumours, unsubstantiated statements. I think a James Moore has done a detailed investigation into this rumour and have concluded that Darwin died in a state of unbelief, agnostic if not atheistic.

No. He did not become a Mormon. Nor did he become a Mummer, a Moor, a Murmerer, a Moron, or a Mutton.

rolling stone: news flash, jesus is dead too. happened like 2 millennia ago. didn't you get the memo?

He was Protestant from his youth planning to become one of the clergy. He fell of his beliefs (not surprisingly). It would surprise me very much if he turned to religion again.
