Interpreting The Revelation is a combination of educated guesses and interpretation of the older prophesies (specifically Daniel and Isaiah).
It is my understanding that the prostitute mentioned in the Book of the Revelation is a twofold representation depicting the capitol city of the earth and the global religion which is to come during the Tribulation. The woman is often referred to as Babylon. This may represent a single city or several cities under which the world is ruled.

I would speculate that following the Rapture, Islam would take over the world on the premise that Allah had killed all the Christians for denying him. In having such total control over the rest of the world, Israel will not seem such a threat and this may be what leads to the peace treaty between Israel and the rest of the world.
This would also suggest that the political, cultural and religious capitol of the world would migrate to the middle east.
