In the Bible when Abraham and his wife Sarah go to Egypt Abraham tells Sarah to tell the Pharoah that they aren't a married couple. He says for her to tell him that they are brother and sister. Yet when the Pharoah decides he likes Sarah and tells her she's "comely" and would she like to be his wife Abraham gets pissed off about it and god decides to punish the Pharoah. Yet it was Abraham's dishonesty that starts the whole misunderstanding. Also, it's not like the Pharoah said " you have to marry me", he didn't act in an inappropriate manner at all. He just asked. Is that right? Wasn't the Pharoah, by virtue of being human, just as much god's child as Abraham? So...what's up with that?

Okay, so I read up about the Christian view of gays. And it seems that for almost all the time of Christianity it has been labeled as a sin. But as soon as we come to present day, homosexuality is much more accepted and this controversy arises over whether it's OK for Christians. Some say it's okay, some not. So has Christianity been altered to suit the current liberal view of homosexuality - that it's acceptable?

PS: I'm not a Christian so don't blame me for anything.

I only ask because the way I see it, the most important thing is that a person feels settled and comfortable and at peace with what they believe. I don't understand why so many people feel this desperate, irrespressible urge to prove the faith (or lack there of, as the case may be) of others wrong. Why do you care? I know many religions teach evangelism and "spreading the message", but in all honesty, it's no one's business what people believe, and I find it scary how passionately some people will fight to instigate a fight over something that, really, is quite personal. Until someone can prove beyond an iota of refutability (I think I made that up) that a particular way is correct, shouldn't we respect the paths of other people?

I'd like to avoid the "I don't do that!"s. This is not an accusation. It's a query for the people who ARE like this. Not the ones who aren't.

...you know, where the concepts of logic and reason are slowly introduced to them so as not to shock the system with too much logic and the crumbling of their nonsesical beliefs in one go?

I know it's more important than chocolate vs. vanilla. But I'm curious which one you think is closer to the Truth. Why? Which has better theology, better worship, and better morals? Explain.

Please state your denomination.

I'm not Catholic, but am really attracted to the "trappings" of the church; the Mass, the prayers and quiet, rhythmatic spirituality. Many of my beliefs about Christianity are ALOT closer to Catholicism than Protestantism, though I wouldn't call much of what the Church teaches part of my personal faith. Should I join the Catholic Church? I have sampled every school of thought within protestanism and couldn't be less interested in it...so what do ya think?

first of all I grew up a baptist and don't tell me they don't because most of my friends who were baptists were taught the same things. Mainly the catholic church is false and they taught me "catholic doctrines" and how false they were until I found out that they twisted the actual beliefs of catholics they didn't even actually know what catholics believe but they taught what their pastor taught them and they accepted it. Most of the people here who criticize catholicism know nothing about it's true doctrines and understandings of the bible and don't even educate themselves but attack them anyways so I'm glad I left you closed-minded people, but because of people like you "christians" with your rude judgments I'm not really sure if god does exist.

Why do The Roman Catholics refer to Mary as the Queen of Heaven? After reading the Book of Jeremiah 7 vrs 18 it states that the children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger. (19) But am I the one they are provoking? declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame? (20)therefore this is what the Lord says: My anger and my wroth will be poured out on this place

It seems to me in the Old Testement the term Queen of heaven was a negative term.

Are you a convert? If so, why and from what did you convert? If not, are you a traditional Catholic?

If you're an ex-Catholic, why did you leave the Church?

From what I understand, there is a high percentage of people that classify themselves as Christian here in the U.S., so why does it seem that there are so many atheists in the R&S section? Is it just that the atheists have more free time on their hands?

The Quran has the ultimate disrespect for non-muslims:

Allah's curses is upon Christians and Jews:

Quran 9:30 "the Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. …they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the truth!"

Dont Be friends with Christians or Jews:

Quran 5:51 : “O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. and he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. verily allah guideth not a people unjust.”

Hate everyone who doesnt believe in Islam:

Quran 60:4 ““(allah says) there is for you an excellent example…(abraham’s example) “we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever,- unless ye believe in allah””

Islam is a religion filled with hatred for non-muslims, yet Muslims demand respect...amazing.

Why didn't he just "heal himself" and get down when no one was looking, and save us all this nonsense?

Why also did he die for peoples sins - was he just giving his dad a break from punishing people and thought that would stop his dad moaning about his job?
