The Buddha did not just 'believe' in the existence of a god, but in fact, realised that there are many various gods or dieties in existence however, the understanding and concept of god/gods are different to him (and in his teachings).

You can say that he is a great teacher with godly qualities which makes him a unique teacher among his devotees...

The writings of Buddha's teaching mention gods, but they are nothing like the god described in western culture. Buddha described them as just as much in need of enlightenment as humans.

While some of Buddha's followers revere him in a way that can be misinterpreted as treating him as divine, Buddha taught that no one is entitled to be seen as divine. The practice, not worship of any figure, is what leads to enlightenment and the end of suffering. Buddha invited people to try his teachings out, and if they did not find them beneficial, to reject them.

There is an old saying attributed to him: If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him. In that it is meant that Buddha's presence is not important. Buddhism is done not through worship but through following the 8-fold path.

As a true Buddhist, may be i can share with you what i know. In Buddhism, we have Two Tradition-Theravada and Mahayana, as a Buddhist, regardless the different philosophy and goals, we Never regard him as god, be it in the Mahayana or Theravada.

In many of his teaching-be it in a sutra or scripture, he never once mentioned his was a god, he only say that his was the 'awaken one', as he don't believe in 'god' or 'creator'.

Buddha did not call himself a God, Angel or anything of that nature. All he said is I am awake!

No. Sorta.

There is a univeral "prescence" that binds all things. This is close to what Christians would call God, except it has no conscience. It just is. It is "life force" if you will, the ultimate goal being to beome enlightened and join it.
