burning books is not on, crap or not, even if people think its crap, its not up to us to deny the future what we took for granted and slated/followed...if people dont wanna pass the bible on then they gotta burn the communist manifesto, das kapital, a clockwork orange, the da vinci code etc...see what i mean? where will the censorship stop?, let the bible continue, even if people dont take it as sacred writings, its a valuable source of history, ie how people lived in those times, it cant all be crap, because there is other evidence which backs up some of the writings...artefacts etc

Who on earth would consider the Bible a worthless book, it is a great work of litrature, poetic and a good guide book.
However as an athesist,I think that it is a poor history book, a lousy biology text book, and not the only book in the world.
As a consevation book binder, I have seen, repaired and readmore holy books than most. Athesists do not burn or ban books, Chrisitans, and Muslims burn books. Thankfully not all of them feel that way - and many even venture into more than one book.

Translate the old testament from yiddish. Word for word. No bias. Or we shoot you. That's worth saving and passing on, even if the person isn't jewish or christian. It's unbiased, and it's got a helluva lot better teachings and morals than that new testament, biased, translated, lost, translated again, translated a third time rubbish ever did. <.<;
This is coming from a Shinto man, so I expect much anger/sympathy from both the Jewish and Christian religions. Anger more from the Christians, tho, as usual.

The Bible is a great piece of historical literature. Reading and understanding the Bible is essential for an understanding of modern history.
Only if it is regarded as the unerrant word of God does it have the capacity for evil.

It should be preserved as an Ancient Text that falls in line with Greek Mythos. As for the other comment, stop going out of the way to make a false choice.

I think it's a very interesting piece of literature, and therefore should be kept and read. It's a dangerous thing to take seriously, though.
And yes, I've read both the Old Testament and the New Testament several times.

I'm sure there is wisdom in the bible and history.
I would never suggest books be burned or banned.
I just think that it is the product of human writers and is not Divine.
