Why didn't he just "heal himself" and get down when no one was looking, and save us all this nonsense?

Why also did he die for peoples sins - was he just giving his dad a break from punishing people and thought that would stop his dad moaning about his job?

There are two things that keep us from God- sin (our knowingly acting against God's will), and death (the separating of our bodies and our spirits).

Jesus overcame sin through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane. He overcame death through His rising again from the tomb... and He DID have to die to be able to rise again....

I don't think God wants to punish us. I think He (the Father) had this whole thing (Jesus coming) before He even created Light and Dark. He knew that we could not ever fully be perfect and pure, we'd always be flawed. The principle of Justice required that there be a perfect sacrifice for these flaws. That perfect sacrifice had to be made by a pure individual... and that pure individual was Jesus. Jesus chose to make that sacrifice for us out of love.

Just wondering- when has God moaned about His job?

Jesus willingly died so He could pay the price for our salvation. The bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Jesus paid the final price for our sins, so no more blood needs to be shed. It was an act of obedience to the Father and love for people .

The powerful statement that was the suffering, death, and subsequent Resurrection of Christ Worked better than any David Blane, Chris Issac, Houdini style escape would have. Don't try to second guess God. This simple meek carpenter's son Rabbi changed the world with his majesty in death and that is without regards to Deity that is historical fact.

How could he get down when he was nailed to the cross? And who wasn't looking? there were hundreds there that day.
He knew he was created to die eventually for all the worlds' sins. Huge price to pay for a bunch of people who don't even believe.

Actually what you are asking is spoke of in the Bible when Jesus was being mocked as he hung on the cross...several of the scriptures you can look up are as follows.....
Mat 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
Mat 27:40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest [it] in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Mar 15:30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

First, he was nailed to a "torture stake" with his hands above his head so that he would be smothered to death--pure torture.
No cross involved--that's just another twisted portrayal.
Nonsense?
Should you ever open up your hard heart and return to God, He Will forgive you on the basis of His Son's sacrificial death for all of mankind.
This is the only way to honor Yahweh God, Grand and Glorious Sovereign Creator. Amen.

Christ himself said He came to fulfill the will of the Father. His death isn't what takes away sin. It's what happened in the Garden of Gathsemeny that takes the sins away. His death and resurrection were to allow us to be resurrected also. He had to die and be resurrected so we may also be resurrected. If he wouldn't have finished his mission- dying and being resurrected- we would all be subject to death with no chance to be resurrected. It's pretty simple to follow if you will let yourself understand.

It is funny how people do not realize what they say. You are quoting scripture and don't even know it.
I hope some day you will look back at this and see what we Christians see.

Since you consider it nonsense that someone would decide to lay down his life for you, I wonder what it would take for you to understand the magnitude of what he did for us.

This was not just about being nice for his dad, it was a case that he loved you and I enough to give us the option and opportunity to go to a better place after death. Also to have someone who is an advocate for us.
