Okay, so I read up about the Christian view of gays. And it seems that for almost all the time of Christianity it has been labeled as a sin. But as soon as we come to present day, homosexuality is much more accepted and this controversy arises over whether it's OK for Christians. Some say it's okay, some not. So has Christianity been altered to suit the current liberal view of homosexuality - that it's acceptable?

PS: I'm not a Christian so don't blame me for anything.

The problem is that lots of Christians like to choose what they want from the Bible. They don't want to accept all of it if it doesn't fit their standard. As far as the Bible goes, homosexuality is a sin. Also, alot of Christians don't want to live a Christian lifestyle, which is why you have Christians killing abortion doctors and stuff. What a good Christian would do is try to make gay people straight, instead of yelling at them and mocking them or just accepting them.

The Bible can be interpreted to mean almost anything you want. Let us not forget that the Bible was used to support slavery by our most pious and religious Southern states during the time leading up to the civil war.

The problem is the Christians can pick and choose what they want to follow. According to the Old Testament we are to avoid women during their menstrual cycle. Such women are to God both filthy and sinful, and anyone who comes near them is contaminated by them. Leviticus 15:19-30, 33

And of course, the Bible has nothing to say about homosexuality per se only the acts thereof. Did God not create homosexuals too?

Its all a crock of sh**t

The christian view is not that it's acceptable. To true Christians it has and always will be a sin.Man cannot re-interpret the Bible to suit changes in society. Man cannot change the word of God.

Religions usually mirror societal values. You'll find the same is true of the Christian view of women. Women in Biblical times were considered little more than property. These days, women are treated much more equally, though some of the religious chauvinism holds over.

It does not change the fact that it is still a sin.

2 Peter 2:1-3
"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep."

American Christianity likes to compromise with sin.

But true Biblical christianity condemns it and always will.
