"The canon does not contain its own self-justification but rather directs our attention to the tradition which it mediates. For to say the least which has to be said, without the tradition there is no shared memory and therefore no community. Our study of the canon has led to the conclusion that no one interpretation of the tradition can be accorded final and definitive status. The presence of prophecy as an essential part of the canon means that it will always be possible and necessary to remold the tradition as a source of life-giving power." -- Joseph Blenkinsopp.

In particular, I need to know what he means by "the canon does not contain its own self-justification."

Thanks!

what are the differences between Christian and Eastern meditation? All I know is that Christian meditation is just study, rememberance, and application, and you don't need to clear the mind or anything, just focus.

but what exactly is Eastern meditation?

Scientifically speaking, if souls are our body's eternal "energy", and all energy takes up space, because it's composed of matter, then logically, our souls have matter, and therefore have energy, which therefore takes up space. Since energy can neither be created or destroyed, then when we die, our body's energy must go to our 'souls' apparently, so how much space do our souls take up?

I have read you can mix the sage, cedar and sweetgrass together, burn them in a clay pot, and recite prayers as the smoke is washed over you and the place you wish to be cleased and blessed; I have also read the sage, cedar and sweetgrass are burned separately, as prayers are recited and the smoke is washed over you. Does it matter? Where I can get reliable information?

I've noticed that i become more self destructive when the moon is becoming full -- the full moon has just passed, and i've done many bad things to myself this weekend -- does anyone else have this same problem? --- i'm a scorpio, so i'm prone to self-destructive behavior anyway, but it gets amplified during the full moon

I am really tired of seeing Christians attacking Atheists on Yahoo! Answers. Don't you realize that by not showing love towards your neighbor that you're adding fuel to the Atheist or Anti-Christian fire?

I guess my question is: Why do you attack people of other religions when you know it will do you no good in furthering the love and gospel of Christ?
