Ok my friend who is 29 had a child when she was 20. She was married and her and her husband went to church every week. She wouldnt play cards with the gang and often helped her local church with "kid days" and such. She was married at 19 and in right before she turned 21 she had a baby. The kid (at age 8 now)is autistic and was observed to be autistic at an early age. My friend and her husband do some much for the kid, but its so sad to watch. Ive known her since i was 14 and she is the sweetest girl ever. The church has helped her for the past 5 years because her kid has been put in a special school that costs 70 grand a year. My friend and her husband are struggling to make it and i help them out from time to time even though i have no money. She still has faith in God and so does her husband, but its getting them no where and im not sure if they can even go another year without falling out. Why does God make people suffer if they love him? Why does he make mentally handicapped?

I am a Muslim of Celtic decent. How easily might a person like me make the Haj? What kind of obstacles might I face in the Middle East and how might I avoid them? I am not planning to do this anytime soon but I was thinking about the difficulty for a person like me?

If your answer is "it depends", please give a few examples of how you reply depending on the particular apology.

There is great argument over creator or big bang that began the universe. One speaks of a spirit which has no mass (no physical substance). The other of gases, dust, etc. which obviously do have mass (physical substance)
I would like the opinion of all thinkers, regardless of faith or lack of, that can give me the explanation of how something that has physical substance came about way back before the universe was born. I am not seeking facts. Even science does not have those. In this world, we know scientifically that you can not get something from nothing. How then did this occur? I am seeking your ideas. Please, real answers only.

If you had to pick 3 items, situations,or images that you would consider:

1) Anti-religious

or

2) Evil (if you pick sin, please quantify this... I mean to pick an image, item, or something that would embody sin for you)

What would they be? List 3 things for each (or as many as you can think of). I realize there might be some overlap on the 2 lists-that's fine. Things for those of you intensely religious that would make your blood boil.

*Exclude things regarding evolution--I already thought of those.

Thank you!

What is the heart of the Lord on this matter? How did he speak to those who did not believe in Him? Take the woman at the well, for example, did he scoff at her, spit at her, did he rage and say hateful things? No. With love, and gentleness, and mercy, and kindness, He displayed His love for her.
Shouldn't we be more like that?

Why is that if people have discovered the tomb of jesus (this is not a debate on whether the tomb is real or not), but finding this tomb could lead to one of the most important discoveries of our time.
So why is that instead of hearing about this on the news, I'm bombarded left and right with crap about Anna Nicole's death, and Britney Spears' bald head. Worthless crap that smart people don't care about.
My theory is that the religious right is trying to make forget about the tomb by making us think that two idiots, dead or bald, are the most important thing going on in the news right now.

Now since I know many of you will forget what I wrote in parenthesis, let me say it again, this is NOT a discussion on whether the tomb is legitimate or not.

Did Jesus ascend to Paradise the same day of the crucifixion?

(a) Yes. He said to the thief who defended him, “Today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43)

(b) No. He said to Mary Magdelene two days later, “I have not yet ascended to the Father” (John 20:17)

Are all these true??

I'm talking to the rhetoric fountains. You smarty atheists, you know who you are, so don't be offended, I'm not grouping you all.
It's been proven that you cannot get something from absolutely nothing. So where did all of the matter dispersed by the big bang come from? This all appeared magically? Wow, that sounds alot stupider than attributing it to a creator. Any atheists wanna answer? No, of course you don't. Your Bible basher books don't deal with facts, just the logic of hate for others. Without them, you people wouldn't have a thought in your heads.

I met this guy, who has told me soooo many things about my life the have ironically come true. For example. he told my cousin my ex was cheating on me with several women which was true. He told me that my ex would be incarcerated because of a blonde haired girl. He is in jail and because of a blonde haired girl. He told me three family members would die within a month. Too many things. Does anyone know how he would be able to know?

Is "Disfellowship":
a) the time when a JW left Christianity and became a JW?
b) the time when a JW left being a JW and went back to Christianity?
c) the time when a JW voluntarily left being a JW?
d) the time when a JW got kicked out from the JWs, sort of like excommunication?
d) depends on the context
e) some other meaning (please briefly explain)

"Disfellowship" is a new word to me, I think I heard it for the first time when a JW religion defender told me that they were disfellowshipped back in the 1980s. So I presumed that it meant "a) the time when a JW left Christianity and became a JW" and whenever I heard the word again (which was surprising), that definition seemed to fit. However, in my mind, can't help but think it means getting kicked out or leaving for some reason, so I thought I would ask. Definitions of "a" and "b" seem to fit what I know of the JWs. Definition "d" is what I keep on thinking it might mean.

First off I have no problem with Christianity, I am a Muslim but my family are Christians...

How do you handle the Christians that obsessively get in your face about How You Need To Accept Christ as Your Personal Savior and or Obsessively Relating Everything to Christ Dying For Our Sins?

I admire the good intentions of these Christians and how they are working to bring people closer to God but this gets obnoxiously disturbing real fast. I don't know too many people who feel comfortable discussing religion with thse Christians, this includes my Christian friends.
