Could a White Man Easily Make The Haj?

Question

I am a Muslim of Celtic decent. How easily might a person like me make the Haj? What kind of obstacles might I face in the Middle East and how might I avoid them? I am not planning to do this anytime soon but I was thinking about the difficulty for a person like me?

Of course you can. I read Malcolm X's autobiography years ago and when he left the Nation of Islam to become an orthodox Muslim he had an eye opening experience in Mecca. He saw men of all races and creeds there. This helped him to change his outlook on race until his tragic death. You will be fine.

I believe that the only thing not permissible in Mecca is if someone outside the faith of Islam enters the city. I know a few people who have went to Hajj and are not of middle eastern decent and did not have problems.

Another thing, when you do decide to make the pilgrimage, you will probably be in a group and have a Hajj leader who will guide you and be able to answer your questions more clearly.

The only obstacles i think you might face in the middle east is getting ripped off (lol). I am originally lebanese, I look lebanese, but everytime I go to lebanon and I say a word of english I am automatically charged more then a native speaker would be. Other than that, I think the people are quite friendly and welcome of foreigners. (speaking from my own experience visiting several middle eastern countries)

I think it is great that you are thinking about going to Hajj. I am planning on going myself in the next few years inshallah.

Nah it's cool, you won't have any problem. There are plenty of white people doing the Haj you know.

Arabs are white, so once you are in ihram you will look just like everybody else. All you need is money.
