Did Jesus ascend to Paradise the same day of the crucifixion?

(a) Yes. He said to the thief who defended him, “Today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43)

(b) No. He said to Mary Magdelene two days later, “I have not yet ascended to the Father” (John 20:17)

Are all these true??

You must be assuming Paradise here to mean the 3rd heaven where God the Father is. Not so. BEFORE God made a way for sinful man to enter heaven thru His Son's death on the cross (salvation for us), man could not enter the 3rd Heaven as sin cannot enter heaven. Therefore, all the people that died before Jesus sacrificed Himself for us and washed our sins with His saving blood, went to a place called Sheol (Hebrew word) / Hades (Greek word). This place had 2 compartments, the good side = paradise, and the bad side. When Jesus died, He went to hades and set the captives free (find this in 2 Peter), meaning He conquered death for us, so that people could enter Heaven. So, I believe the thief went tp hades, the good side (Paradise) until Jesus ascended to Heaven. Since then, the good side, emptied of people, no longer exists. There is only 1 compartment. The bad side still exists and unbelievers continue to be there, as well as anyone else today who die without Jesus's atonement for their sins. Most people call this bad side HELL. Since Jesus resurrection, all believers go straight to Heaven. God looks thru Jesus' saving blood and sees redeemed souls as believers enter heaven. Only thru Grace can we enter Heaven sinless. Grace = God's riches at Christ's expense. Read about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke. The rich man was in the bad side of Hades and Lazarus was in the good side. There was a chasm between the 2 sides where no one in either side could cross over to the other. They could communicate with each other, but not enter the other side. Only the bad side exists today. This is a great example of how some who do not understand scripture try to twist it to discredit it. I'm not saying you are doing this at all. You are probably just trying to understand and it is somewhat of a mystery if you haven't read the entire Bible. It's a great question, thanks for asking!

The confusion is interior the translation. Manuscripts don't have lots punctuation. some Bible have Jesus asserting I inform you somewhat right now, you would be with me in Paradise. So the Promise became made that day, however the being in paradise became later. Jesus ascended After his resurrection and appearances to his disciples. See Acts a million.

Correction: what he said was: Verily, I say unto thee, to day "shalt thou"(?) be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43).
There's a differenc between shalt thou and thou shalt.
One is a question and one is a statment.

It's all "allegory" in both "covenants": Galatians 4.
http://www.godshew.org/Allegory.htm

It's also "mystery" to solve, as noted over 20 times.
So then it's allegoric mystery, not biblical literalism.

It's written "aforetime" for our "learning": Romans 15:4.

One could think of the biblical God "shew",
whereby all the worlds a stage for the shew,
for them playing "their part" and you playing "your part"
as the ultimate matrix, or as a hollow deck program,
a virtual reality game of life or death (grace or law),
with the safety switch off to make it more realistic.

If you're here, then you've agreed to play the game.
The level of deceit(difficulty) increases as you go on,
much like any virtual reality game or any video game.
The only other option is draw back, notably to perdition.
I wouldn't recommend drawing back to my worst enemy.

So, to your question: appearances can be deceiving.

There's more than a few things at Easter,
which just don't add up, or agree with each other:
Two Sabbaths. Two Ascenssions, to two Gods.
http://www.godshew.org/Easter.htm

Since Easter 07 is coming up real soon,
and it's already the last day (third day = 7th day)
http://www.godshew.org/ThirdDay.htm
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons19.htm
and since Revelation takes place on the Sabbath
http://www.godshew.org/Revelations4.htm
it might be a good time to re-think the crucifixion thing;
For the will of God is: "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice",
and doing the will of God PRECEDES receive the promise.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Jesus on earth was a mortal but He is part of the Trinity (God, Jesus, Holy Ghost). He says in scripture that "when you see me you have seen the Father" which tells me that they are one in the same. When the thief accepted Him as Christ and he died he did go to be with the Father which again is part of the Trinity so therefore, what Jesus told him was correct. I know it sounds complicated but this is what I have gotten out of it. His ascension to heaven was the last thing he did before mankind that proved who He was. Hope this helps.

Jesus did not ascend to paradise; he ascended into heaven 40 days later

No, Pontius took pity on him and cut him down as soon as he passed out. He was sent home for his mother and wife to tend his wounds and then went to say goodbye to his friends before leaving town. Oh, how a good story becomes legend in just a few decades.
