...insist the bible has all the answers (but of course has absolutely ZERO data) and that the natural world can be explained by the bible....in ancient history, people didn't know how the natural world operated...so they talked and gave their own answers....science came along because the human mind started to realize that things could be measured, information catalogued, mathematical patterns emerged and therefore predictions could be made.....religion is all about faith and science is all about evidence, peer review, reproducible results....we get annoyed that you never seem to get it...u obviously have no clue what science means by "theory"....we generally think your type is a waste of time because you just dont get it (maybe your type have so many deep fears, insecurities, and frailities--I would rather make good use of my time on earth than sit around fantasizing about a heaven that there is NO evidence to support its existence)

Gravity is "just" a theory, do u doubt it exists?

I should go kill a bunch of people, take their stuff, rape their daughters and then enslave them, drown anyone who disagrees with me - and then I'll be just as "good" as God and I won't have to follow my poor, ignorant human impulses that say all of the above is wrong... Oh, woe is me, I'm just so stupid and ignorant, I think hurting people for no good reason is evil; and to think, I've been wrong all these years! Well, time to go slaughter some innocents! Gotta go!...

Did the Colonists dump the Tea into Boston harbour because it was atheist tea, or as a tax revolt because they couldn't get members into the British parlament to represent them.?

States and citizens unleash terror and brutal violence in the name of peace, security and faith. The might of one State strikes at another and incapacitates its innocent subjects. Misguided citizens form terrorist groups and strike at the unwary! All have their own reasons and excuses for their sham behaviour. Whether elephants mate or fight, poor grass is the victim! When we get up in the morning we look for a day full of suspense. This is a universal reality. Cheating, exploitation and committing frauds on innocents are the orders of the day. Our mentors in the past have left noble messages and best wishes for us to cherish. "Love thy neighbors", "brotherhood between men", "Peace be unto you" - these are some among the many. But with characterless leaders at the helm in politics, religion and society what relevance these best wishes have in our daily life? Look around! Also search your mind’s recordings. Then answer!

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

John 2:15
So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

Those are not the actions of a gentleman....

mankind has always sought to simplify his life.

through tool use, through efficiency.

Isn't the idea of "one-god" just another shortcut so people don't have to worship different gods for different things?

the whole idea of "making life easier" is a notion man exhibits when he creates other things, why not when he invents his gods and mythologies?

Not believing that God exists is one thing, but doesn't it take just as much faith to believe that it is an irrefutible, absolute fact that God doesn't exist? If blind faith that God DOES exist doesn't make sense to you, then how can you justify blindly believing without a doubt that He DOESN'T exist?

As a child you can be forced by parents to go to church, but just because you go doesn't mean you believe.

But as an adult how can anyone claim they have been " forced " to BELIEVE a religion? I don't think anyone can.

Since all events after my choice are also known to God, then the impacts of my choice are built into God's knowledge.

Therefore, I have no choice but to behave in a way that is already part of God's foreknowledge.

If God is omnisicient and transcends time, how can free will possibly exist?

the other day I asked why western religeons hold people back from enlghtenment ... and in return I was asked the question above

... so I put it to you (notice he capitalized IF)... :)

first let me say that I don't claim to be enlightened, just a free thinker that has begun to understand the way he feels about the world around him ... and is willing to share his truths, and listen

I'd like to think a quest for understanding is worth doing, but I find when I ask religous questions I'm frustrated with the answers I get from the right. Long winded paragraphs of scripture that cannot be proven or un-proven mean nothing to me. I want to understand what leads to blind faith, and why there is resentment on both sides.
