God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
So is His Word. Gods Word is practical no matter what day it is. I find no problem with the
teachings of Scripture as far as being practical.
The most practical things are those of common sense, and you will be hard-pressed to find more common sense than in the Bible.

The lessons that Jesus tried to teach, unfortunately, for many of them . . so full of beyond their time revelations, through time went through many changes, bastardizations. As anything else does.
People need to add their 2 cents to everything which may have been original and pure, if exited, at one time, from the originator.
It simply is human nature!
Remember playing a game, where a large number of people sat in a circle and told the person next to them, something, close to the other's ear?
When full-circle was achieved WHAT did you have . . most probably something quite apart from the original comment.
Of course the lessons Jesus may have taught were practical then, ad would still be mostly practical now, if they had not gone through the Circle ordeal, which we humans seem to prefer to have.
I once heard this in a Woody Allen film : " If Jesus came back to earth and heard what people had done to/of his original ministry - over the last 2000 years, He'd not be able to EVER STOP throwing up.
I agree!!!

The lessons of Jesus are not just practical but it is the way of Christian living. Right is right, then and now. Some things do not change.

Yes, you have to look at the meaning and the lesson. Even if it happened at a time that things were more extreme than they are now the lessons are still the same.

they are practical for all people today, not just Christians. Jesus told His followers to spread the word to all. His lessons seem to me just common sense moral teachings. Why wouldn't people want to live their lives in goodness.

Jesus taught us lessons of humanity, and they are still as good today as before. It's just that people are the same as then.We always have and maybe always will be just to stupid to catch on and adapt to what is the true intended nature of mankind.

Only if you want to live in the truth and go to Heaven. Some of them are very hard to decipher on their own but when you consider the wider context of Scripture, many of their meanings become very apparent.

yep,,
but sadly traditions have turned jesus into a freakin building.
jesus is not a building nor does he dwell there. he has teachings and fundementals that we are instructed as his followers.
but sadly, people would rather pick and choose what they feel fits their lifestyle instead of being obedient to a jesus they claim they belong to.
