whereas i wouldnt expect any action from the other religious wasters who think this life is a dress rehearsal for the main event....
pagans who are supposedly in veneration of natures beauty dont deserve the name, if there is squalor around where they live and they do nothing about it.

i call them neon pagans....they do rituals indoors under electric lights and then talk about a connection with nature....all theyre doing is amateur dramatics!

with a hail.....and a thee....and a.....mote it be!

if God wanted to make humans as someone would could choose to praise Him, i.e. the creation of Free Will, what good is blissful ignorance? Wouldn't eating from that tree be a good thing because it would give them more choice? i mean, if they hadn't, wouldn't it have been blind faith, and therefore no faith at all?

I do not mean churches in the sense of a place to pray and practice a religion. I mean it in the sense of an organization that serves a community purpose, and assists people. I would be thankfull for a place to go once a week and maybe sing a song, and hear a speech. Maybe it can run an atheist based school, and promote positive values. Ideas, any one??

I think I would be a good person to follow mindlessly. I'm pretty, intelligent, well versed in the scriptures, politically connected and a bit uneven when I don't take my lithium.

We could lock ourselves in a compound and plot our revenge against our oppressive, nut-hoarding squirrel overloards. It'll be like having a big sleepover EVERY NIGHT!

Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, et. al. have only said, in essence, it's time to stop treating religion with kid gloves. We can, and should, apply rational thought to topics of religion, especially when they inform public policy.

What is so bloody wrong with that?

I am a Catholic, and have been for 8 years, my mom got very sick with cancer, I didn't go to church, I stayed by herside throughout her process of dying. When I went back to Church I needed to do a confession before I could take communion, the priest didn't have time he told me to make an appointment, on Wednesday, which is impossible I have 2 small children that go to bed very early and the confession time was at 8P.m.. He was going to show up the following week10 minutes before church to do my confession but he didn't get there until late, then was in a hurry right after church, I got sick with pneumona and was in the hospital for 4 days the sister of the Church came for a visit but that ws it no priest not even 1 church member and I was in there enough time for the church to know, I feel like it is time to move on maybe find a different religion??? You see there are 2 priest for 3 churches and there is no other catholic churches around. Should I change my religion?

1. All of the basic “kinds” of living creatures were brought into existence in the same initial creation week. Moses wrote: ”. . . in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is . . .” (Ex. 20:11). This would include the dinosaurs (“terrible lizards”), and man as well.
2. Jesus affirmed that mankind has existed “from the beginning of the creation” (Mk. 10:6); this certainly excludes the notion that dinosaurs became extinct millions of years before man appeared upon the planet.
3. Humanity was given dominion over all the lower creatures of the earth (Gen. 1:26). There is no reason to exclude dinosaurs from the scope of this passage....
Behemoth in the Book of Job
There seems to be a reference to dinosaurs in the book of Job.

What do you think?
Thank you...

AGAIN, the word theory has 2 different meanings depending on the context of use. In casual conversation, theory means idea or guess. This can be a logical guess based on anecdotal observation or pulled out of thin air.

Within the context of science however the meaning is much more specific. A "scientific theory" is a hypothesis that is as true as anything we can possibly know. Science does not attempt to "prove" things. It disproves null hypotheses. So a "scientific theory" is based on the fact that through an enormous amount of experimentation a hypothesis can not be disproven. It doesn't mean it never could be but when an idea is elevated to the level of theory in science you can be confident that it's correct. Through further study, details may be added or removed highlighting new understanding but the theory remains true.

That said, can I count on you to not ever again state that evolution is "just a theory". It's more you think and all you can "know".

Sometimes, I feel like doing so. Give the question a bad rating, or something along the lines of "stupid questioner".

Is it a good idea if we could do that?

Somebody asked 'did they have no rainbows before the flood'?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070228160835AAaWwAo

The answers showed a level of delusion I thought impossible.

"we had a shield of ice over the planet"
"there was never any rain on the earth before God brought the flood"
"Look at the North and South Poles... Obviously there is more water than was intended for the Earth"
"a cataclysm of some sort had created a Greenhouse Effect long ago.Volcanic activity had clouded the atmosphere."
"before the flood, the water all came from the ground."
"Rainbows only occur in the sky when the sun is a fixed number of degrees from the viewer after the water vapor level has reached a certain point. If the world can be made in 6 days, it can also be arranged that whenever the sun is at that angle, a cloud roles in front of it."

Now, I hate how you will go 'literal' and 'allegory' about bible subjects at the drop of a hat, but this one takes the cake

Any 'normal' christians?

The Creationists' most famous "scientist" - the one they trot out for the kleig lights because he once "studied under Stephan J. Gould", geologist Kurt Wise says:

" ... if all the evidence in the universe turns against creationism, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a creationist because that is what the Word of God seems to indicate. Here I must stand."

My fellow Muslims, as we all know what happened to Isa(A.S.) in our beliefs, he was raised to Heaven alive before he was going to be murdered, and instead someone else took his place, right?

Don't you think the discovery of Jesus's tomb, if proven true, only strenghten our beliefs?
