Somebody asked 'did they have no rainbows before the flood'?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070228160835AAaWwAo

The answers showed a level of delusion I thought impossible.

"we had a shield of ice over the planet"
"there was never any rain on the earth before God brought the flood"
"Look at the North and South Poles... Obviously there is more water than was intended for the Earth"
"a cataclysm of some sort had created a Greenhouse Effect long ago.Volcanic activity had clouded the atmosphere."
"before the flood, the water all came from the ground."
"Rainbows only occur in the sky when the sun is a fixed number of degrees from the viewer after the water vapor level has reached a certain point. If the world can be made in 6 days, it can also be arranged that whenever the sun is at that angle, a cloud roles in front of it."

Now, I hate how you will go 'literal' and 'allegory' about bible subjects at the drop of a hat, but this one takes the cake

Any 'normal' christians?

Ummm... at the risk of having the proverbial rotten fruit thrown at me by the other Christians around these parts.... I'm going to ask what you mean by "normal." If by normal, you mean "like all the other Christians" then nope, I'm not normal. Most people mistake me for a pagan, actually, until I let them know otherwise. :)

A lot of people are just willfully ignorant & nothing irks me more than that, regardless of the religion of the person choosing to be willfully ignorant.

What is your definition of "normal", as far as Christians go?
Honestly, I don't care if you take me seriously or not.
However, I have not ever answered a question using anything resembling the examples you gave. Fact is, we don't KNOW. Scientists are able to explain a lot of things, and they're able to piece a lot together. Yet there are some things that defy explanation, and just won't fit.
So maybe Noah's flood did happen. Maybe it didn't. I'm one of those Christians that doesn't base my whole faith on one Bible story. Enough of it can be backed up by historical FACT that I don't NEED to believe in Noah and his Ark.

It really is an unfair generalization. For one thing, you have no idea how old or at what education level the person answering you is.

About the only thing that did make sense to me was that it didn't rain before the flood. I would imagine it was quite the surprise to people when it did start raining, esp. after they had made fun of and taunted Noah all those years during his ark building.

LOL, define normal.

Dude, that's hilarious! A cloud in front of the sun everytime it's at the rainbow inducing angle, that one's the best. What a luxury to be able to pull whatever sh*t out of your *ss you want and have people believe it.

It's hard to believe these answers! It's also hard to believe that there aren't any Christians coming out and laughing at them. Instead they actually defend them. Hilarious.

Good question. We gotta stop being so polite to denial thinking. It is pushing us back as a society. Let's get enlightened already.
