how do you meditate?

It's best to find a group to meditate with. Shambala and Zen groups are good at having folk come just to meditate. Some Yoga classes offer some meditation, though it tends to be expensive. Trancendental meditation folks are still around, don't know if they cost anything.

Meditating is thinking on things. It is best to think on whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, things of virtue, any praise, think on these things.

Also, in an other answer I read. We can meditate on God's Word (Promises). Pray Gods Word to God and silent meditating, listening (waiting) for an answer from God. It is written, "Be still and know that I AM.".

Also, in another answer, speaking tongues (language to self?). That defeats the purpose. Speaking in tongues is to God, and revealed from ones heart, love to God in a language God understands (devil doesn't). Build up ones most holy faith praying (to God) in the Spirit.

Depends. Sometimes I do guided meditations (see link below).

Other times I just concentrate on my breathing.

I normally sit on the floor with my legs crossed and the light off. Sometimes I lite a candle. ans then I just make sure it is totally quite, close my eyes and I am off.

i usually concentrate on one thing (a picture, a sound, or music) untill everything external falls away
