Why did the universe begin to exist? From a non-religious perspective.

they don't agree with their religion they grew up with and are devoted to?

I know someone who treats gays and lesbians no differently than anyone else but she talks about them like they're dirt when they are not around. I asked her one day what she has against them and she said, "Because the Bible says they're sinners." I then asked her if she had anything against them other than sin, and she turned her eyes away from me and slightly shook her head no. I'm just curious if anyone else has seen someone like this.

Please don't judge this question based on your personal views of gays and lesbians, that's just the best example I can think of.

I want to start studying this but I don't know where to look. Please let me know of powerful women and where to read about them. Also women that the Bible doesn't make a big deal about them but are powerful because of what they have done or been through. Thank You for your help.

what if the Bible God is actually fake, but say Allah is real, so is it possible that Satan wrote the Bible to steer people away from true God? don't forget Satan is very smart...

Clue: Saying "no problems in Heaven" is like saying no challenges, which to me would be horrible.

Saying "everything is perfect in Heaven" is like saying we would never be needed.

Christians say that Jehovah is GOD. But they pray to Jesus. Why?
If Jehovah is GOD, then better pray to Jehovah. Jesus is just a messenger to GOD Jehovah.

First off I know this is on the R&S forum. Part of this is b/c anytime you write "God" you go there. The other is that I'm aiming to get some Christian points of view. With all due respect, please spare me the "God blesses" and "God even loves you's".

I want all of you to know I am NOT offended by your religion. It's great that you found something that fills your day to day life with joy but damn, can't you talk about something else?

It's always: because God loves us all or we are his children or because Jesus died for our sins, or God is great, etc.

As an agnostic, getting responses to my questions like, "it's because God is so perfect" just doesn't ring with me and I know I am not alone.

There are times when people who are not religious accuse religious people of having "blind faith." But don't all systems of thought require some kind of faith commitment? Doesn't everyone accept a set of foundational assumptions by faith through which they interpret their perceptions and experiences? For example, if one believes that at the most basic level that "seeing is believing" then is he able to validate his belief by seeing it? Or is his acceptance of the proposition "seeing is believing" something which he accepts on faith?

I am a practiced Catholic but I have never heard the history behind *why* we eat *only* fish or vegetables on Friday during Lent. If anybody has a simple, easy to understand explanation I would love to hear it. Thanks.

First Pastor Ted Haggard - head of the largest evangelical group in the U.S. and now Lonnie Latham, a senior leader of the Southern Baptist Convention, were picked up after trolling for male prostitutes.

If you can't even see the flaws in your own leaders, why should we listen to you?
