The typical answer to "why did God make evil?" is "you can't have good without evil". Okay, why did God make it that way? If God is omnipotent he could easily make the universe so that you -could- have good without evil. Why did he choose to make a universe where evil not only exists, it's necessary?

Where is the humbleness gone? The biggest stumbling block towards self purification is, feeling that others are less enlightened than you. It is not a fight between religions and showing one-upmanship.

Any religion that does not inspire you to be humble, should not in fact be practiced.

I myself am an ignorant Hindu. May God bless!

I think the major religion in america would be christianity, why then do people ignore parts of the bible but embrace the ones that benefit ones own self or build upon unaccepting things in society. People don't go around dissing fat people for the sin of sloath and gluttony but some religious people would have problems with people being gay but has no problems with fat people. There are so many other sins which appears so often people just tend to ignore them. I'm sure we've all been envious of people every now and then but people don't even really consider envy as a sin anymore now a days because it happens so often. We embrace the parts of the bible which personally benefits or doesn't cross roads with what we believe to be norms. How many of you would consider someone bein lazy a sin? or even have it pop into your mind as a sin? But i'm sure there are sins that would instantly affect you and make you say that is bad. Do we embrace only certain parts of the bible?

Disregard what Yahoo has titled it with, and tell me what YOU consider this place to be. More of an un-official Evolution forum, or more of an official Yahoo! Religion forum?

READ 2 THESSELONIANS CHAPTER 2 Man of Lawlessness 1) Divine Position 2)Within visible church 3) will hang around till Judgement day 4) Counterfeit miracles (not actually doing them) Catholicism is tied to saints that can supposedly 'cure' you to stigmata, to statues supposely crying. The pope says he has power from the verse when Christ calls Peter the rock and on this rock I will build my church. In greek, (pie'ish symbol) ETPOS, is a rock you can hold in your hand, this is what Jesus says when refering to Peter, the other 'rock' (pie) ETP(alpha?) is bedrock stone, Better translation- Foundation is on Christ (supported elsewhere in scripture) He is the Rock of Salvation, that which gentiles stand on and is a stumbling block (stumble as in dashing to pieces beyond all repair in greek meaning) to the Jews...Even the Pope's attempt at securing his position is based on a false translation. How can you argue?

I have just been informed by a Christian that I am an atheist because one must be led by the Holy Spirit to understand and believe in the Judeo-Christian god. I don't understand this--Christians believe that 1.) the Holy Spirit is the active force of God, and that 2.) God wants all of his children to believe in him and get saved and all that stuff. So--if 1 and 2 are true, why doesn't the Holy Spirit lead everyone to belief in God the way it supposedly has Christians? Does God choose who will believe in him?

I know everyone has thought about death before. Everyone is seemingly afraid of it but at the same time its supposed to be soo great because you get to live in heaven for all eternity or something. I my self find life so amazing that i believe that something is out there after we die... no matter what it turns out to be i think there is something out there after we die. Now, my question to you guys is, what is your take on the "life after death situation"? im curious to see what other people think.

Christians say that atheists are blind to the word of God, and if they were to come to know God, then their eyes would be opened and the Bible would become clear. So how come Christians can't agree among themselves with what the Bible says? You can point out the same errors or contradictions to 20 different Christians and you will get many different explanations for them.

Maybe someone has to die and go to hell to truly see the error of their ways. And they truly feel sorry and repent and pray to God in Heaven while they're in Hell, will God take them to heaven where they belong?

It's either answer the question or don't I don't need people telling me not to believe in God.
By the way, I'm using The New American Bible (the current Catholic bible).
Its Genesis Chapter 3 Verse 22.
I want to know what the Bible is saying when it says:
"Then the Lord God said: 'See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.'"
