Genesis 3:22, What does it mean when it says "...The man has become like one of us..."?

By the way, I'm using The New American Bible (the current Catholic bible).
Its Genesis Chapter 3 Verse 22.
I want to know what the Bible is saying when it says:
"Then the Lord God said: 'See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.'"

To answer your question, I have consulted both Jewish and Christian sources. I will start by a literal translation follow by a Catholic reference.

From the Hebrew, Genesis 3:22 and-he-is-saying Yahweh Elohim hehold! the-human he-becomes as-one from-us to-know good and-evil and-now lest he-is-stretching-forth had-of-him and-of-him and-he-takes moreover from-tree-of the-living-ones and-he-eats and-he-eats and-e-lives for-eon ...

Your phrase "the-human he-becomes as-one from-us to-know good and-evil". [I have included to-know good and-evil.] What is the pronoun us refers? Yahweh Elohim, translated Lord God. Yahway is the name God told to Moses when Moses asked who sent him. Yahway in Jewish tradition is never pronounce, the Hebrew word lord adoni is pronounce instead. But what about Elohim and specifically Yahway Elohim. Elohim is plural meaning diety, not dieties, or supreme being. It is used in Gen 1:1. Yahway Elohim is translated Lord God, literally Yahway the supreme deity or God. Since Elohim is plural, the pronoun "us" is plural.

From this text, we learn of the tree of knowledge of God and Evil (which human were forbidden to eat and of the tree of the living ones which humans were allow to eat. Eating from the tree of the livings allow human to live for-eon, not forever.

This is Genesis 3:22 literally.

It reads straight forward. However in the KJV and The New Jerusalem Bible (reader's edition )There is a small error as the Jewish religion was still polytheistic using the names Yahweh and Jehovah as the names for The Creator at this time. It was not until Moses time at the end of the exodus that it became a monotheistic religion(Yahweh). And they read {the man(kind)has become like one of us in Knowing good from evil, He (They)must not be allowed to reach out his(their) hand and pick from the Tree of Life too, and eat and live fore ever.}
And the current Bible was written from a patriarchal societies point of view . Forget when the Jewish society changed from Matriarchal to Patriarchal.

"One of us" - the previously repeated phrase of "Let us" eg. "Make man, after our image and after our likeness..." it is apparent to me that it is a conversation in the Godhead - the Father to the Son or the Son to the Father.
Incidentally, in the previous statement someone made, that Elohim is the word used in Genesis 1:1, what is said is correct, but is only a half truth. Whereas the noun is in the plural (Elohim being the plural form for the singular El = God); yet the verb form for the word "created" is in the singular; indicating in the first verse in the Bible, a plurality of unity in the Godhead.

They were told not to eat of 2 trees in the garden....the tree of knowledge eating from that gave them the freedom of choice-as Gods have- if they ate from the tree of life - they would be like gods- and live forever.

the correct translation of genesis chapter 1 for 'God' is 'THE GODS'. The word 'Elohim' is the plural for god as in gods. so Genesis 1:1 reads "In the begining the gods created the heavens and the earth"
