Especially for my Christian friends here on Yahoo. I have come to learn that the word "fool", as used in the Bible, is an awlful word to call someone, because it means that person is without Hope. I have used it and apologize to those who have heard it from me. No one on this site is without hope. God loves us all. What are your thoughts.

I do mean on real life, not on weird hypothetical situations of life and death, but, on your waking up, eating, living, etc.

If all the doors of our senses rot in the ground(or are burnt to ash). No ears..no hearing, no eyes..no seeing, no nose...no smelling, no nerves in the flesh...no sensations, no brain to hold the mind...no thinking or awareness. Is the convenient soul the only explanation?

Many churches read a passage, and then say: this is the word of God, or this is the word of the Lord.

I think of God slaying the first-born male in every Egyptian household on the night of the Passover, of Samuel instructing King Saul to practice genocide on the Amalekites or even Elisha calling out bears to eat up some little boys who have insulted him. If this is the word of God, I want nothing to do with this awful deity.

I have tried rebuking them in the name of Jesus, they go away but come back. Please tell me how I can make sure they do not harras me like they did last night but blinding my eye sight in both eyes and as soon as I called out th God he heard me and everything was restored, even being levitated of my bed, I called out to Jesus but I had not voice, as they took it away from me. I am not making this up as liers will not enter Heaven. I need some urgent advise, as I will be going to bed in the next 20 minutes, and I do not want the same thing to happend to me tonight, as I guess it is understandable. What do I need to do besides pray. I have a spiritual warfare prayer I was sent last year, do I read that out loud?

When God destroyed Sodom and Gomarrah, the people who were fleeing were told not to look behind them and one woman did and God turned her into salt.

Some people will say this never happened, but I believe that everything in the Bible is true. I'm not doubting that this didn't happen. I know it did, but it seems kind of a harsh punishment for looking behind you.

I know it was a sin to disobey, but this story seems harsh. What are your thoughts on this?

I'm an atheist. I have lived a satisfying life. I'm going to die soon. I have no fear of that. A couple of religious friends have tried to convert me by focusing on the benefit of an "afterlife." I don't believe cognition can survive the death of the brain, so please don't address that issue. What confuses me, what my religious friends themselves have not been able to answer is what is attractive about an afterlife. If fantasies came true I think that having an afterlife of a couple months to reflect on one's life would be great. But for all eternity? That's a real long time. More than a hundred trillion years. More than a google years. To me, having an eternity of consciousness is just not at all an attractive alternative. So help me out here folks, help me understand why so many people find an eternity of consciousness attractive. Thanks in advance for all thoughtful and considerate answers.

One complaint I keep hearing from Atheists is that Christianity stole stories from Mithra or other ancient religions
my question is why do atheists believe these ancient writings but not those of Christianity - there are far fewer writings to confirm anything is true or accurate, far fewer scholars that can do the investigating properly - just far less evidence for these older religions but atheists take them as being true without investigating, I suppose a reason would be that they lean toward your beliefs so why look deeper
if you did look deeper you would find that these religions are not similar to Christianity but were altered and to look like they were but I'm sure that's just the belief of the crazy Christians

Been married for 14 yrs and to be honest its not going so well. She has a online "friend" who just happens to be a man. They have moved into talking on the phone she claims he helps her in a spiritual way. Now she says she feels obligated to meet him for all the help he has given her. I have voiced my objection to this but she doesnt seem to understand why I have a problem with it.
I'm in a very bad place right now spiritually and looking for words of encouragement.
