it is significant in the fact that there will be two Jerusalems in the Millenium. ONE will be where Jesus will SPEAK the other will be where the law is spoken. but that is LDS theology.
IN my opinion Jerusalem is a TRASH heap. it has no HOLINESS whatsoever in its borders of Israel. it will take a HUGE cleansing to make Jerusalem shine.
TO me the rocky mountains are more holy and Even the state of alaska has greater holiness then mecca or jerusalem Combined and multiplied by a thousand.
but wherever I go in the world, I find Evil, and people destroy everything that is good.

To the Christians & Jews, Yes, that is where Jesus Christ will rule from, in the Jewish temple where the dome of the rock is now, That dome will be torn down & Israel will build their own temple. & for 1000 yrs, every nation will go & honor Christ that is sitting on the throne in that temple.

Absolutely.

Rev 3:12 (NLT)
All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write my God's name on them, and they will be citizens in the city of my God-the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And they will have my new name inscribed upon them.
