The possible superstitions which may be developed from a theistic mindset are wide-ranging and well-explored; I thought that it might be an interesting exercise to find some superstitions specific to an atheistic mindset. Let me give examples:
1) There is no God. Now, atheists will try to dodge this by saying, "I don't believe there is no God, I just have no belief in God." However, not only will quick conversation reveal that they have a pronounced belief that there is no God, but cursory examination will reveal that the two statements are functionally identical.
2) Science will cure all of society's ills. This is the fallacy of scientism.
3) Predictive ability is the only valid criterion for a method of investigation. This is the excuse for pitting science as an adversary to religion, and finding religion therefore "valueless."
Superstitions are unjustified beliefs, not beliefs that offend you. Discuss or add to the list. No flames, please.
