Of course.
Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

I fear God in the same way that I would fear a parent. You know that if you cross them, you will have to deal with their wrath. God punishes we Christians too. When we do wrong, we are chastised, also.

I'm sorry but I have to say something. Why would you want to believe in a god you have to fear?? I would rather follow a god who I know loves me and doesn't need me to fear him to know he is almighty. That's like loving a severly abusive father. Why would you want to be abused? I prefer a god who yes can get angry, but I know won't send me to hell for forgetting to say my prayers before bed.

A prince must study war, read history and know his land. He must appear to be good, but know how to be evil. He should not fear to be thought mean, for liberality is ruin, nor should he worry to be thought cruel, for fear is the one thing he can control. He should be willing to use guile and deceit if needed.

2 Thessalonians 2:11
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. -1 John 4:18.
I love God, so therefore I do not need to fear him.

Yes, when I read about Him in the Old Testament, I feel fear. However, because Jesus is our intercessor we can obtain mercy from God. This is available to all mankind and it is God's free gift to everyone. So no one needs to run from God, no matter what they did. He waits for us to turn to Him and He is gracious to all.

Yes. but only out of respect. We don't fear him as a slave to his master. We fear falling out of his grace. We fear losing his love. We fear hurting him.
Dealing with non-believers is tough. Especially when they attempt to quote the Bible (99.99% of the time, out of context). It frustrates us a lot. At times, it's tempting to let them fall, but we are called to love our neighbors. We fear dealing with those type of issues wrongly. I can tell you one thing, if God didn't love non-believers I wouldn't. But since he does, I will continue to try. It's just tough.

The Bible teaches us in Luke 10:27, "That we have to love Jehovah with you whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind."
It also teaches us that according to 1 Peter 2:17, "Be in fear of God, have honor for the king."
Does this mean that we should we fear God with terror?
Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge. Wisdom and discipline are what mere fools have despised."
Proverbs 2:1-5, "My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it,  in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God."
These scriptures teach us that when you have knowledge and wisdom of the Word of God you learn that Jehovah, just as a loving Father, seeks only the best for us. A son properly fears to displease his father, but appreciation for all that his father does for him should also move the son to express genuine love for his father. A scuba diver may say that he loves the sea, but a wholesome fear of it causes him to realize that there are certain things that he should avoid doing. Similarly, our love for God should be coupled with a wholesome fear of doing anything that will incur his displeasure.
