Especially for my Christian friends here on Yahoo. I have come to learn that the word "fool", as used in the Bible, is an awlful word to call someone, because it means that person is without Hope. I have used it and apologize to those who have heard it from me. No one on this site is without hope. God loves us all. What are your thoughts.

It is absolutely correct that you should call no person a fool; this is because even some of Gods very Elect are not awakened yet by Him.
Everything in Gods plan will go by Gods timetable. We don't know the specifics of that timetable, nor do we know who is and who is not of His Election (to the point where we can call someone a fool, I mean).
Its a very bad idea to call someone a fool, when you may very well be calling one of Gods most important servants a fool. Real bad idea.

I am guilty too, but you're right, the Bible tells us not to call any man a fool. I do think the word 'fool' has a different meaning than it use to, but a warning is a warning, so I try to not use it. The word still slips out occasionally, but I'm getting better about being liberal with the term, since I try hard to live up to Christian principles.

Isaiah 32:6
"For a fool speaks nonsense, and his heart inclines toward wickedness:To practice ungodliness and to speak error against the Lord, to keep the hungry person unsatisfied and to withhold drink from the thirsty."

If you are wondering about the hungry/thirsty comment, it is a statement that means they try to keep people away from religion and God who may need Him. They are doing an evil thing, as is clearly seen on YA. This is the wickedness that their heart seems inclined to do. I have posted variations of this several times, hoping that some may reconsider what they are doing.

Also, for those who think this is unloving and judging... Christians are called to expose known sin, and to help others to see the error of their ways, as an act of love, not hatred. We wish that none of them would perish, just as God does. If it is done in the spirit of anger and hatred (Raca), then it is judgment on our part, which would be wrong and evil of us.

I had to examine the root of my motives with prayer and searching His word before knowing that I should do this. God is the judge of who will be forgiven and who will face eternal separation. Our mission is to be as Christ's was.. call them to repentance and to proclaim the gospel of reconciliation with God.

It is God's word that accuses them of being fools and we are just agreeing with His assessment. It is His judgment, not ours. We also know from His word that many, because of their unbelief and especially if they already know the Lord, are hell bound. Some are in a hopeless condition.

The use of the word is meant to express the contrast of a persons conduct, between the upright and the wicked. Look how many times it is used in psalms and proverbs. They also get upset about us saying that they are evil and wicked.

Lets accept that most of them will not like being told that they are doing something wrong and hurtful. We know that many will not heed the warning, but if even one reconsiders and repents, then it is worth our "standing in the gap" in hope between them and God.

A good key word study Bible will clear up this confusion.

"The fool in his heart says there is no God."

"He who calls his brother a fool is in danger of condemnation."

These are actually two completely different words, one Hebrew, one Greek.

the Hebrew word translates as "one who lacks in wisdom."

The Greek word translates as "graceless wretch," meaning you are judging (determining punishment) for someone, which we are not allowed to do. Only God determines punishment, He is the judge, not us.

adult men use it each and all of the time among themselves while greeting, and so on. there became into even a set of babies in Korea once I visited that have been calling one yet another that. i think of it relies upon on how cool you're with a individual and if there is an wisdom. yet that is nevertheless a mushy project. widely used, i think of a observe is barely as effective as you enable it to be.

"But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."

Raca, according to Easton's Bible Dictionary, means "vain, empty, worthless, only found in Matt. 5:22. The Jews used it as a word of contempt. It is derived from a root meaning "to spit.""

We generally associate Raca and fool together, and they are synonymous, but my understanding of the ancient term of the word "fool" is much worse. Raca generally meaning someone of no real value, while fool encompasses that as well as meaning someone who is retarded, unable to retain knowledge of any kind, with a deceitful quality to them.

I think you can see why the above verse says what it does.
