just a tad bit too late at that point.

I think not. Once in hell it's too late. A person has been given abundant chances to accept God, become a Christian, etc. while here on earth. They had their chances. They knew what the consequences would be but they didn't want to believe it. They felt they know better and they were too smart to believe in God. . They showed disrespect, ridiculed, and anger toward God, the Church, and Christians. In hell they would see that they were being arrogant, self centered, spiteful, and had made a big mistake. Now that they are "getting what they paid for" they want to "change their tune". It doesn't work that way. They had their chances, many of them, but they blew it. Look at it like this: A person knows not to steal but goes to a store, hides something in his coat, and heads out the door. The alarm goes off, he's stopped, and the stolen item is found. He might say he's sorry and offer to put the item back or pay for it but the security person will say that it's too late. Now they have to face the undesirable consequences. They knew not to steal. They knew if caught they'd be in trouble. But they did it any way. Bad choice ! The question about repentance in hell works about the same way.

This life is the time to prepare to meet God. It's actually easier to repent while you are on the earth, because your knowledge is more limited and you have more personal say in the way you repent. I believe that there is a preliminary judgment in the spirit world, and then there is still a time to repent in part before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the resurrection. However, those who have purposely chosen to follow Satan's inspiration for most of their lives cannot really repent of everything after they die. For example, I do not think it is possible for the worst murderers to make it to the highest kingdom of heaven, unless they were mentally ill or something, because the light of Christ is given to everyone at birth, and you should just know that killing someone is wrong. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is magnificent and all-encompassing, but it was not meant to cover pre-meditated murder. In general, however, we are are still progressing in our repentance to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.
Ok, I just saw your second question. If they were killed before they repented, they would be judged in accordance with how much they knew of the Gospel. Sometimes people can spend years in church but still not have a testimony of what Jesus Christ did for them.

I wish that could be the case, but I don't think you get the opportunity to do so once you get to hell.
Based upon the Bible in Luke 16:19-31
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2016:19-31;&version=31;
This passage talks about Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man did evil and was taken to hell when he died. He was in agony. Verse 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
I'm not sure on the reason, but I believe that the reason we cannot change our minds after dying is that salvation is by faith and it is because a person chooses to live a life with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and by confessing your own personal sins to God.
If a person chooses to wait until they die, they don't do it out of faith, instead they wait for cold, hard facts. Are they then repenting because they want to escape punishment, or just because they really were sorry for their sins?
You see, that is the reason why so many of us do talk about getting things right before dying and since we don't know when that will happen (people have accidents, etc), we don't want ANYONE to go to hell. And for that reason, I want you and everyone else to make a choice to escape this option.
I know that a lot of people insist on proof, but God insists that it is by faith (the absence of proof). God gives everyone a chance to choose him. So, before it is too late, please examine your hearts and make the right decision. Salvation does not mean you have to be a holier than thou self righteous bigot. No, that is NOT what Christianity is about. Instead it is about asking Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and repenting of your sins. I know that a lot of people will give this thumbs down, but I hope you understand that Christianity can be the best time of your life. A Christian has an advocate (kind of like an attorney) and a guide to help them through difficulties. Salvation is not about the rules, but the heart intent. If you are interested in knowing more, please click on my avatar and I will be happy to share more.
I also want to answer one other side issue. Some people might wonder about those who did not have the ability to comprehend the difference between right and wrong. I believe that God, who looks on the inside and the intentions would not condemn someone to hell who could not understand the consequences. That doesn't mean that a person who chooses not to understand the consequences is exempt, but instead a person who is not mentally able to understand, I don't believe God would make them go to hell.
Blessings to all of you.

Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not. Earth is where we are. Obviously the goal is to be with God.
As much as I would like to add more, I can't. We know birth, we know death, but we do not know about the after life. For example, in the after life we are without God, do we have options to be with God. We do not have any revelation that provides this detail.
In the New Testament, there is information about the end times, but nothing about those that loose faith in God? Moreover, God, not man, judges.

Darcy,
The opportunity to be a member of Christ's Church and bound for Heaven ends at Judgment. We will either be bound for Heaven or for Hell and will remain there for eternity. It is said that they will face "Eternal Damnation". Eternal means FOREVER! I would think that as a Christian, we should be doing everything that we can to convince those around us to become Christians. Christ sent the disciples out in Matthew 28:18-21 in the Great Commission. This was probably HIS last words on earth before HIS ascension into heaven. This is something that we are supposed to be doing to this very day and continue until judgment or our death whichever comes first.
Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. We must HEAR GOD’s WORD. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2. We are told to BELIEVE. - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
3. We must REPENT (turn from) of our sins. - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
4. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST before men. - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
5. We are to enter the waters and BE BAPTIZED. - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
6. We are told to CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL until death. - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

Regarding your second question:
God gives us multiple opportunities to repent. His perfect will is that none would perish, but that all would come to repentance.
If you're talking about the age of innocence, that's a different question all together.

When in hell, it'll be to late to repent. That's like repenting while being strapped down to the electric chair.

It may very well be a long climb out but Jesus went down to hell and gathered a few out so yes it is possible. The thing that you must realize is that if you do things in this life knowing you can repent in hell, I am sure it wont work and you will be stuck there.

If that were the case, everyone would repent in hell to get out of there. That is why it is so important that you make the right decision and ask Jesus to be your personal savior.
