In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The why is all his spirit children needed a place to progress to a higher form of life. We are all his spirit children so yes we are older than the universe.

Good question.
Creationists have no answer to the fact that we can see light from stars hundreds of lightyears away, meaning that these stars are millions of years old.
Creationists also have no answer to the fact that rocks and fossils (including a frog that was just found trapped in amber in Mexico) are millions of years old.
Creationists would rather put a book that is full of holes above tried-and-true methods of science.
An odd world this is.
