I'm a christan and I wonder if you do what god tells you , and ask for things like for someone you care about to get to know him , and ask him to be in thier hearts, and getting married or haveing kids, I always pray for that , will he answear prayers , if it's not for worldly things. Any advice. Will he answear, if they are good right things, not like money, or marteril, things???I always pray every night for these things, I never ask him for selfish things, and do you think that asking to get married and haveing kids is selfish.

Does anybody know of a Biblical story about going against authority to get what one wants with the help of God? The only one I can think of is Moses and the Pharoah...does anyone know of any other ones?

I say that the 10th (Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods) is outdated. Coveting your neighbours goods is what keeps the economy going. Your neighbor gets a new car, now you want one. And I think the 6th and 9th commandments (Thou shalt not commit adultery and Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife) are redundant because the bible says that if any man lusts after his neighbor's wife, he has already commited adultery with her in his heart. I don't know if that applies to a guy's wife who's not his neighbor.

Any other useless, outdated commandments?

If God does not exist... Then why do you care what Christians/Muslims/Jews/Buddists etc think?

Shouldnt you feel special because you dont have to answer to a higher power? Arent you bringing yourself "down" to our (faithists) level by arguing there isnt a god?

Besides, if the world ends and you were right, then everything is fine and dandy - You dont need to convert anyone. No one NEEDS to believe you at all.

My question is - Why do you feel the need to "convert" people to Athiesm, or the need to challenge people who have a faith in a higher power (no matter what it is). Why is it necessary for you to disprove what you call a "fictitous" book? If its fictitious, then "who cares"?

Some Christians pull 1 Corithians 6, and 1 Timothy 1 out of context to justify their intolerance of Gays and Lesbians. A quick survey shows these passages to be unreliable.

The word being translated to "homosexual" in 1 Corithians 6, and 1 Timothy 1 is "arsenokoitai." This word does not appear in Greek writings prior to Paul's use of it in the NT. Paul made the word up!!

During the time of Martin Luther, the word was universally translated as masturbators. It wasn't until the 20th century that it began being translated to homosexual.

Homosexual is a modern translation that did not exist before the 20th century!! Yet, many Christians because of blind faith or hatred take these passages to be the word of God condemning homosexuals.

Did God change? Did he decide masturbation is ok, and turned instead to homosexuals?

Could it maybe be true that the OT angry God needed Jesus in His heart, instead of us? Is it true that NT God found Jesus and became far more forgiving?

Like, people in here can go off about what they think will happen and what not, but in the end our own beliefs are all that it really comes down to. When we die, we find out, before that, it's all speculation.

I guess I find it relieving to think that no one can touch my personal belief of what I think I'll experience after death. I find the people trying to give warning and fear into what people should expect and should be doing to get there to be rather weird. It's not like they've died and have first-hand knowledge of what happens.

I like having my own belief of the after-life, it's mine, no one can touch it, and when I die, maybe I'll experience it, maybe I won't, but in the now I enjoy thinking I might

=)

If God is the one original cause and creator, then how would He create anything separate from, or outside of Himself? Would it not be logical to conclude that everything and everybody is part of God?

So many of you say the reason gays should not get married is because they can not reproduce. So what about straights who are infertile?

So many of you say the reason gays should not get married is because it is disrespectful to the marital institution. What about murderers, rapists, and atheists who get married? What about YOU, after all you are all sinners. Should only perfect Xians get married?

If you say that God isn't everything, explain how.

If you think that there is no God, and you really feel the need to say so i can't stop you, but it helps me none.

Note: I'm not referring to any book's God.
