Darwin outlined specific criteria that he said would disprove his theory. It ends up being a very narrow window of circumstances that would be consistent with evolution, where even one valid counter-example would bring it down.

I'm wondering what you think would disprove Intelligent Design. All hypotheses have their weak points, and knowing them is a key part of understanding. I'm not necessarily looking for an all-encompassing set of criteria, but I'd welcome that if you have one. Even specific, observable instances would be helpful.

I mean if God and Jesus know they are the only gods, and some guy was calling out to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, wouldn't they have a sense of humor and laugh about it rather then get super pissed off and send them to hell for eternity?

A few years ago, I resolved to study and practice Buddhism. I was excited about my decision and went after it with all the fervor of a fresh convert. But then something went wrong. I live in a part of the world where Buddhism is not a popular religion. In fact, there are no temples, classes, talks, teachers, or students. I even have to buy the books off the Internet.

I know that in the Emily Dickenson "Some Keep the Sabbath..." sense of things, a person shouldn't need a church. But then again, Dickenson also went insane from loneliness. I don't feel like I can grow in my practice without other people to talk with about it. Furthermore, I keep reading that an inexperienced person needs a teacher to guide them in meditation.

Could you be a Christian without a church? Or a Jew without a synagogue? How can someone grow in a faith if they have no place to worship? Do you have any ideas, or is my resolution doomed to failure?

I've been kicking around a story in my head for a while about commitment, and using a priest and his commitment to God to say something about commitment in relationships.

So I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me more info on a priest's daily life? I know the obvious like they can't date and such - but they can go hang out with their childhood friends right? Go to bars? If somebody could paint a picture of a normal day or weekend for a priest that'd be really helpful. Thanks!

To prove homosexuality is detestable many quote from the following:

"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." (Leviticus 20:13)

However I noticed from reading more verses around the quote regarding seperate things that are detestable?

"If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet, they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed." (Leviticus 19:20)

"Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip the edges off of your beard." (Leviticus 19:27)

(Levitius 19:5-8) "After a sacrifice, eaten upon the third day will make you seperated from your very people?"

And the regards towards the consumation of shellfish, and lobster?

Did you read about God calling the ancient Israelites, His people, stiff-necked and stubborn because they would not listen to Him?
Did you know that Moses intervened when God wanted to exterminate them? Exodus 32: 7-14.

What is money? Most of us love it. But as you getting more mature, you realize that you need some body who can provide you answers to your questions which you have failed to obtain from your teachers, friends, your parents, siblings....
I was saved by our Lord and prepared by our Lord to serve Him as long as I am willing, Lord who is patient, He is so loving, He provided, He has always been TRUE, and He who is God to me, but how many of us know the TRUTH? TRUTH is what GOD has provided and He who is GOD has always been Kind and Loving!
Money can be earned but you must not forget what you can earn here on this was provided and is there, and will be there, but if you do not have good relationships with God, you will be having life without true happiness, you will be lonely though you have billions, you could have the sense of insecurity and wonder how your successors will manage your wealth, and most importantly you mISS the BEST of your LIFE!
Praise our Lord, and may God bless you!

What are the three major divisions of Judaism??

The reason I ask is because it seems heaven is living with God, and hell is being without God. Now since God is everywhere, we are always living with God, so this means it's really just our choice. A few of you have pointed out that the fire and brimstone are really just metaphors for an eternity away from God. So this would make heaven just a metaphor too. I mean doesn't Jesus say no one has entered the kingdom of God except him and God (also him).

John 3:13
No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.

So maybe no one is in "heaven" or "hell" but really it refers to life on earth. But of course there's the fact that many people live great lives apart from God, and many have bad lives with God.

So really I don't know, which is why I'm asking, hope you can wade through the ramblings and give me some insight.

According to Matthew, Jesus was born during the reign of Herod the Great (Matthew 2:1). According to Luke, Jesus was born during the first census in Israel, while Quirinius was governor of Syria (Luke 2:2). This is impossible because Herod died in March of 4 BC and the census took place in 6 and 7 AD, about 10 years after Herod's death. Does any body else find this odd ?

WHEREAS The atheists and the Christians have been sparring back and forth for years on Yahoo Answers,

WHEREAS atheists are unlikely to win any converts to their philosophy from the Christian faith,

WHEREAS Christians are equally unlikely to convince any atheists to become Christians,

GIVEN that the back-and-forth ridicule flying between both parties frustrates everyone and enlightens no one,

FINDING that there is no way to conclusively prove either party's claim of the existence or nonexistence of any God or gods.

RECOGNIZING that the importance of one's own beliefs are not dependent upon anyone else sharing the same belief,

ASSERTING that atheists are free to believe in no gods and that Christians are free to believe in God,

BE IT RESOLVED that atheists shall no longer challenge the beliefs of Christians and that Christians shall no longer challenge the beliefs of atheists on Yahoo Answers.

Will the resolution carry?
