yes, it IS child abuse, and many of the people who grow up with religion but abandon it later end up harboring much resentment toward their parents and teachers.

This is so common in that hateful religion that says "Oh God loves you,unless you f*ck up" what kind of sick message is that,especially to a child..I agree it should be against the law to teach such slanderous fear.This is damaging to a child-I should know I was forced to believe all of that crap in catechism--But I learned not to believe in such nonsense-thank GAWD

I definitely believe it is sick and abusive to threaten a child with eternal hell fire. It's bad enough when they do it to adults who can reason and figure out that it simply isn't true.
