I feel that an ecumenical approach between different denominations within Christianity is very important. We are all part of the body of Christ and as such we should be working together to bring about God's purposes.

I'm reminded of Jesus' prayer in the gospel of John, chapter 17 verse 23, where He prays for us - all who will come to believe in Him:

"May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me".

Makes you realise just how important that unity is to Him. Maybe all Christians should pray the same prayer in earnest.

While the idea of ecumenism seems like a lofty goal, in practice it cannot help but fail, at least initially.

Ecumenism in practice doesn't mean "respecting one another's beliefs." It ends up meaning "embracing one another's beliefs."

At that point it becomes a lowest common denominator, fluffy, feel-good exercise that has no standards other that a belief in a "higher power," regardless of its name.

It requires abandoning your faith in the name of "tolerance." But truth is not relative, contrary to political correctness doctrine.

Either Jesus is who He says He is, and did what He said He was going to do, or He died for nothing. Because He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

I think it is the beginnings of a one world church and is the authority that will give the Antichrist the power to make his claims.

I don't believe it is possible. People can't seem to get along for very long periods. Someone will ruin it before long.
