Under the interpretation of Islamic Sharia law on which Afghanistan's constitution is based, a convert faces the death penalty unless he reconverts to Islam.

"The Prophet Muhammad has said several times that those who convert from Islam should be killed if they refuse to come back," says Ansarullah Mawlafizada, a trial judge.

"Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, kindness and integrity. That is why we have told him if he regrets what he did, then we will forgive him," he told the BBC News website.

I would love to find GOD... I really would. But frankly... there is so much I just don't understand about the way he presents himself.

I was reading on here about some miracles that people experienced. People that were having severe problems, called out to God and somehow he performed a miracle for them.

However... for every one of these "feel good" stories I read about, I have also read accounts where people were getting beaten up, attacked etc... all kinds of misfortunes... who called out to God and they "claimed"... that nothing happened. They got beat up etc.... anyway.

Wouldn't it seem that if there was a god, and although I am agnostic I tend to lean that way... that he would be universal in granting things like prayer requests, miracles etc.... I just don't quite understand the concept and the way it plays out.

Thanks... Have a nice day.

i heard that mary mag. wasnt even a w.hore.. that the catholic church made it up while deciding what makes it in the bible and what doesnt.. and that her and jesus had a child which has continued the living blood line of jesus.. and thats what the knights templar and crusades were about, trying to find and kill the blood line and spread 'christianity' as they saw it.. and hide the fact that christ female descendents should run the church, not be second class nuns..... have also heard this had alot to do with the 'witch' hunts as they were trying to kill the 'free spirited' women, as christ female descendents would have been.. not that naked beautiful girls in the woods have to be satanic in my opinion.. anyway.. bla bla bla.. just wondering?

The Biblical story is partly based on the Enuma Elish or "Seven Tablets of Creation", which is part of the ancient Babylonian mythology. The Torah was not written down until the Babylonian exile, when ancient Jews were exposed to the diverse pagan mythologies of the Babylonian empire. At this time they adopted stories about creation, Adam and Eve, the Flood and other stories which were incorporated into the Jewish religion. Noah is based on the Sumerian mythological hero named Utnapishtim, who was also known as Ziusudra or Atrahasis.

It is unlikely that all these stories come from a "common origin". They were adopted at the time the Jews were in Babylon and were rapidly losing their own language and culture. We have no evidence to suggest what the Jewish religion was like "before" the Babylonian exile as all copies of the Torah post-date that time period.

If this is the case, and science has also discredited the literal interpretations of Genesis, why do people still accept it?

Just becasue you don't break laws and you let a little old lady cut in front of you in the grocery store only means you are not a criminal, it doesn't mean you're moral!!!!

i always thought that your book called muslims, christians and jews as those "people of the book" but then i saw someone with a verse of:

5:51 O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

i have always been an advocate of tolerance with islam, but this verse bothers me, is there more to the context? was something specific meant that i do not see, becuase it feels very cut and dry (so does leviticus and other scripture of law) or is there more that suprecedes this?

More than once I read statements in this section that are so black and white.
I just read this:
"There is evil, because God gave us free will. Would you rather have the alternative, that we are all walking robots with no choice?"

Why aren't there other alternatives? Like:
-free will, without the option of doing evil with it
-free will, but without being so easily offended
-free will, but without the ability to hate
-free will, but without knowledge of what violence is
etc, etc,etc

Since God can apparently create as He wishes,in my eyes there really is a long, long list of what God could have created, with still letting us have this free will thingy.

In my country, Holland, we also have pure freedom of speech. Only if it is abused to publicly discriminate or incite hate/violence, it's forbidden. That actually takes away nothing from the pure freedom...with free will, God could have done the same, right?

What if you went to Heaven and God was not the specific God of your religion. Would it even matter that you worshiped Jesus, Allah, etc...? How would you feel if you were part of the wrong religion but went to Heaven anyway?

would you consider going if the setting was a small group of people who actually disused issues that have to do with the Bible and there was a non judgemental friendly aspect to it (and lunch).

I think I've found the reason behind that. Atheists fervently read it to find a flaw and mess up a Christians views. Christians don't read it because somewhere in their mind they know it's false. What do you think?

interpretation of any parts, besides the "standard", accepted versions? For example, believing that Revelations doesn't necessarily mean a seven-year tribulation period, etc.

Just curious on different viewpoints.

Read these scriptures,,but be sure to back up and read the verses before , and after,,,to show example,,((The same way North American people practice Christianity without stoning people, kidnapping and raping their enemies, keeping slaves, ripping open pregnant women, and all of the other heinous things that God commands his followers to do.
Source(s):
(Ezekiel 9:6, Isaiah 13:16, Deuteronomy 13:15, Leviticus 20:9, Exodus 32:27, Deut 21:10-12, Joshua 7:15, and Hosea 13:16 - just a few of hundreds of examples. ))))
you are misinterpretating and this is what ruins the real truth of the bible, people like YOU !! for not properly reading and knowing and understanding what your talking about,,a global earthquake would do this,,and generally if people are plundered , it is because of WARS !! This time, it will be finished and evil will not be ISAIAH 13:13
starts with God destroying the earth in the last days and ridding it of evil, when he shakes the heaven and earth,,,u gave is 13:16 !
