Yes, some people do believe that it helps. Feng Shui/ Vastu shastra have many followers in the Orient. I have seen it happen in my life. Give it a try; it's inexpensive and totally safe. Certain objects have their energy and can channel the energy around us.
I am not an expert but I do believe in such stuff. It's about reaching harmony with nature and minimizing the negative forces in your life. Remember Yin and Yang?

I don't believe in images or items being a change in a spiritual feeling.
My faith is in God, not any items.
