...but, when have there NOT been those things?

Hasn't every generation since the times of Jesus believed that they would see Jesus in their lifetime? And if a thousand years are like a day to God, isn't it likely that he's going to wait more than a couple of "days" before he comes back?

So, for those of you Christians who have Humvees, can you please buy an electric car instead? Thx.

the same way terrorists do? Do non-muslims like their interpretation b/c that way they can find fault in Islam? Doesn't that make them like terrorists in that they are using a false interpretation to back-up their hate?

My boyfriend believes the world is going to end. I'm guessing this is coming from his very religious side. What makes him think this? My grandmother is a nun in the third order and she thinks he's a bit overthinking it. She says there have been no "signs". Having lived through the depression and all of the good stuff, she's heard the "end days" thing before....so who do I believe?

Even if it was, how is that an insult coming from a Christian? I mean, they're a religion, too, so if Atheism being a religion makes it somehow less valid, then wouldn't the same lack of validity apply to Christianity, too?

I'm confused. o_O

i had a dream that my mom had me locked up in my bedroom at her house, she wouldn't let me out. then, a skinny girl w/short spikey hair showed up, and asked my mom if she and i could go for a walk, that she and i needed to talk. so i walked outside, and there, in my mom's front yard, hanging in mid-air, was a murky green hole with stars in it. i stepped into the hole, and felt myself being swept up and out of my body, but i found that it didn't bother me, that i was at peace. as i was going up, i thought "i must be going to my Summerland forever(I'm Wiccan), i wonder if it will look like that i think it will." at that point i looked up, and saw the greenest fields i'd ever seen , w/horses, dogs and other animals, and trees w/an impossibly blue sky. then, i thought "i can't leave, i've got so much left that i want to do" and i thought about my wife. it was at this point i felt myself slam back into my body, and i woke up. what does this dream mean?

One of the Jewish prophets from the old testament, Ecclesiastis ( mispelled, I'm sure) said in so many words, that animal and people are the same. I don't rememeber the verse but if you read the last 1/2 of this short book from the bible, you will find it. Its in 2 places in a variety of verse. I'm 48 years old. Frrom the age of 6, I had this burning belief in me that all creatures were eaqual and loved by God. After many years of prayar, meditation and really listening to my heart, I realized that we are all one. The ocean, rocks, sand, animals, humans, planets, etc. Am I on the right track. If my notion is wrong. Why? Why do humans think they are so close and dear to God?

As a thought exercise... just think about it. What would be your basis for determining 'good' and 'evil'. I mean, basically, can you call someone who doesn't believe as you do 'evil' even if they are the kindest person on the planet? Doesn't it make more sense to villify those who would do you in for their own gain?
You can take a kind, humanist approach to your relationship with others and still reach a sense of peace and goodness without trying to subscribe to any particular human institution (like a 'church'), right?
If nothing else, take a moment and think through things as if there were no God... for good or bad, it may be useful to examine your belief structure.
Not a sermon... just a thought.

Do you have questions that you want to be answered in your life? Or do you have faith in higher being that will answer your questions for you? At the end of your searching; do you want to find the one who has the answers; or do you want to be the one who is the answer?

When the Islamic hordes invaded India, they destroyed 10,000 temples, and converted many to mosques or government buildings!
There are many signs that this monument was a religious one, because of signs, that it's directed to the East, that muslims do not make tombs for dead women...and that there are underground chambers totally blocked by cement fortifications, where there are remains of the glorious temple dedicated to Lord Shiva!!!!

My friend had this dream the other night and while I'm normally pretty good at dream interpretation, I'm drawing a blank on this one.

She dreamt that she had two kittens, one was black and white, she couldn't see the color of the other one. The kittens were declawed and freshly spayed, they still had shaved and stitched tummies. She tells me she had a distinct air of innocence from them. In particular, she thought it was odd to have an entire dream devoted to kittens, and with kittens generally representing trouble, but these being "innocent", I'm a bit confused.

I'd like to hear someone's take on this.

Reading through questions and answers they all seem the most uptight if someone is not taking them seriously. It`s not the end of the world is it if peoples opinions differ? Surely Yahoo Answers is not the new "Gospel?"

I've never known a woman to get an abortion without angonizing over the decision, but so many people act like women who have abortions use it as a form of careless birth control or something.

You people that say those things really need to gain a heart and look at things from another person's perspective. Women don't have abortions because they are hateful and careless. They have abortions because their birth control failed and they can't possibly afford to feed another mouth. They have abortions because they were raped and they can't handle being reminded of it every day. They have abortions because no one ever taught them in school about condoms, their football captain boyfriend pressured them to have sex, and now they're terrified that they won't be able to go to college, that they'll never be loved, that their parents will hate them.

No woman as an abortion without a lot of thought and a lot of prayer. Why are you so hateful to women faced with such a difficult choice?

I have a huge religous fetish and think it would be so hot to have her spank me with a ruler and tell me I've been a naughty naughty sinner. Then she would ask to take the white collar off and you can pretty much take it from there....
