Id like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees and snow-white turtle doves
I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms and keep it company

I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills "Ah, peace throughout the land"

wouldnt it be great ? ( yes it is a question lol )

free will? More to the point; "how free are you?" If you are a servant of (something; anything - god, addiction, emotions...) are you really free? Please think, then answer as honestly as you can.

My family has never gone to church. My mom was raised catholic, and she didn't like the religion, she felt that everyone that went to her church were all hipocrits, because they would 'sin' and do whatever they wanted, then felt that it was okay if they just asked God for forgivness. So she didn't raise us to be religious. She did teach us to believe in God. BUT, i still believe in evolution, and i feel that there is a very good chance that when we die, our bodies will just go back into the earth to regenerate. But i also feel that there is a possibility of a higher power. And if there is one, i don't believe it is anything like the God christians believe in. So my belief is that anything is possible, and no one knows the real truth. What does this mean i am? I mean, what 'category' am i in?

It seems most of the questions posed in the religion/spirituality category are from Christians trying to convince everyone else that they, alone, hold the Truth. They're not looking for honest answers, just an excuse to evangelize.

He has flooded the whole planet before, but is assumed to have had nothing to do with Katrina.

He allowed Job to have horrible diseases, but is assumed to be innocent in current diseases.

He destroyed Sodom&Gomorra, but is assumed to be innocent in current earthquakes.

I know, we should be human and forgive God for his past crimes. And I'm really human enough to forgive Him. Anybody has the right to screw up from time to time.

It's just, he never got punished. And as we all know, the purpose of a good punishment, is to educate the criminal of his wrong-doing. So, God never learned anything from His mistakes.

To ask it in a human perspective: would you hire a known pedophile as a male nanny for your kids, when you knew he had never been educated on the risks of him being a pedophile?

I am feeling like many people are being very judgemental of me right now because I have extreme faith and not unafraid to say it. I'm not judging them, exactly, but I feel like I'm the only one out here that still trusts God and you know what, I just got an extreme feeling that God is with me and I am listening to David Crowder Band song "Wholly Yours" and I just had to stop because my feelings of unworthiness was too great and I just had to sing and lift my voice to God, as horrible as my voice may be. Just want to know if there is ANYONE out there that shares my feelings. If you can't be encouraging, please don't answer.

He had a character called the homophobic cowboy singing about how he hoped that Jesus love for him wouldn't cross the line into sexual deviancy. I know he also has a character from time to time with Jesus dancing around with a foam cross on his back.

People love to say that Christianity is just another religion among many, but why is it the ONLY religion that is acceptable to ridicule?
Rosie O'Donnel says that evangelical Christianity is just as as bad as radical Islam, but why can Conan do these things without fear of being kidnapped and having his head sawn off?
Skeptics love to say more people have been killed in the name of Christ than any other name. Then why are people so bold to insult Christ publicly but quake in their boots at the thought of saying anything remotely negative about Muhammed for fear of suicide bombers/ terrorist attacks?

Like it or not, by their own actions they put Christianity in a class of its own, standing apart from all other religions.

I was born a cripple, one leg shorter than the other, constantly in pain and slightly brain damaged due to lack of oxygen, I don't blame God for this I don't blame anyone it happened. I just thank God for giving me life and now I am a grandmother.

I thank God everyday for loving me and being there when I am in pain and giving me the strength to carry on

So why do some blame God?

God Bless You

It seems that some negative attitudes about Christians stem from the preconceived notion that we're all out to convert people, after all, spreading the good news (about Jesus' death and resurrection and the benefits of believing in Him) is an integral part of our faith. And then you have televangelists who go on TV and do it for a living, some more infamous than others. Is the battle between church and state causing us to confuse simply telling others the stories of Jesus with outright forcing people to convert and shunning non-believers?

How do you reconcile the fact that 25% of pregnancies result in a miscarriage within the first six weeks? Often the woman doesn't even realize that she was pregnant. This is a medical fact, look it up, don't take my word for it.

Anyway, wouldn't it seem that God is okay with abortion if so many pregnancies naturally end in death anyway? Otherwise, why didn't he build our bodies to take care of babies better??

Its something I've never understood. Belief is a very personal thing and none of us have the right to attack someone elses beliefs just because we don't believe them ourselves. .or do you think we do?

Personally I am Wiccan, yet I don't go around telling people with different beliefs, or no beliefs at all.. that they are wrong to believe what they do. I also raise my son unbiasedly in that I want him to make his own choices .

Surely what we choose to believe ..or not to..is our own problem , what gives others the right to jump down our throats for it?

this is the major conflice that i have with christianity many christians teach that the bible is 100% infallible word of god...but many translations...in my view there should only be one....if there is a scripture where there are many views or opinions on it? then why not let the reader decide for himself by seeking God in prayer on the meaning of that scripture?

While I find the scientist's explanation rather confusing, convoluted, and seemingly illogical, I'm not really expert enough to comment intelligently. I've seen some rational counterclaims, but I'd love to hear from someone who really knows the field. My gut feeling is that this is entirely a Muslim attempt to further glorify their religion and give more importance to their most important city. Still, in the spirit of fairness, is there any scientific support at all for his claim?

Then why is it when someone reads a book of someones true life, people don't say thats a lie. But when someone speaks of the bible they say it's not true.Let me give you an example of what I am trying to say here. I worked with this person and she was reading a book and I ask her what are you reading she said a true story that happen along time ago know remember this she doesn't believe in God because she said it was written by man, So I said to her how do you know what your reading is true she said because it said so and I reminded her that man wrote it. So instead of her trying to see my point, she decided not to believe in the book she was reading.Science has proven that the bible and all it's storys did happen, but yet they don't believe because they are scientise. My question is why do people rather choose to be agnorant that trying to search the truth.I know that most people don't like to be told what to do, satans fall was because of pride, whats keeping you from believing.
