When the Islamic hordes invaded India, they destroyed 10,000 temples, and converted many to mosques or government buildings!
There are many signs that this monument was a religious one, because of signs, that it's directed to the East, that muslims do not make tombs for dead women...and that there are underground chambers totally blocked by cement fortifications, where there are remains of the glorious temple dedicated to Lord Shiva!!!!

Invaders always try to erase the previous civilisation wherever they go!
Ayodya was also the place where Lord Rama was born, and there was a huge temple there-Mathura,where Lord Krishna was born:the muslims have also built a mosque there...what a blasphemy to the Lord!In Vrndaban, a 10 storey temple was reduced to 4 storeys, soas not to compete with the palace of the invader!

I beg to differ. I saw a history channel documentary on the Taj Mahal and it was built for a woman. Apparently it was a way that this guy wanted to honor the love of his life.

Yes, millions of people know this already. Good that you are catching up already. Kind of like the Blue Mosque in Jerusalem was started as a pagan cathedral, then went Christian, and now is Muslim.

Not at all. Only fanatic Hindus claim that.. who don't want to confess this world's most photographed monument to be a creation of a Muslim man for his beautiful Muslim wife. (Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal)

Wait a minute - everything I've read about it tells me that it was built for the wife of Shah Jahan, Arjumand Bano Begum.

no,
I am almost positive that that king guy built it for his wife because he was sad when she died. but maybe he did build it on the top of a glorious lord shiva.

hmmm, I read somewhere a long time ago that the Taj Mahal was originally built as a palace / wedding gift from (I forget who) to his bride.

I think you have got a point there. I keep telling people that Mahatma Gandhi was a Muslim but no one believes me!
