I've heard a few Christians say that they believe everyone "deep down inside" knows that Jesus in Lord. Do Atheists believe that everyone on some subconscious level knows that God is not real?

(I'm not actually unsure, but I want to know what others think)
Are Christians only going to heaven or everybody -- only good people, only a certain religion? Who???

First, Im NOT a Christian hater. I was actually raised Christian but was too young to think of this. My question is,since Christmas is supposed to be celebrating the birth of Christ. (yes,I know that wasnt his actual b-date). So, is it a Christian thing to do to celebrate it with the presents or is it unChristian and your supposed to go to church to celebrate his birth? I was thinking the last one but seems like many stay home and do it the old fashioned way, celebrating themselves.

I am very blessed that most of my family is saved. But there is a family member one of my siblings that I dont feel is being very honest or realistic with thier children/youth about REAL life, and I fear when my nieces and nephews are faced with reality they are going to have a very hard time.

That family has basically implied if there kids love Jesus and get good grades in school and follow God and obey thier parents all will go well with thier life and they will succeed, these kids live in a contained enviromnet where everyone is nice to them in school all their activitys are christian and some of these kids are youth and dont even have a part time job to earn there own monies and this concerns me as thier Aunt. Just because there parents are upper middle class does not mean my nephews and neices will be.

What can I do as thier Aunt to encourage these kids who I love when things do get hard for them? How can I be there for them?

Most orthodox Catholics I know have idols in their houses and churches. These are statues of the virgin and of saints. Also I have heard from the mouths of Catholics that they will pray to Mary before they will pray to Jesus to get what they want. I really don't get it.

There are many things that I have faith in. I have faith that I will continue to breathe, that my body will continue to work and keep me alive without me thinking about it. I have faith that when I go to sleep that I will wake up in the morning. And I have faith in GOD but not in a GOD taught of in church but a GOD that I can feel within me and all around me, the “all” that is everything. That everything works in harmony because that energy that makes up everything is seeking to evolve and learn. And that pure feeling of love is that energy and I believe that there is only heaven and no hell. I believe in reincarnation because it is just a continuation of the cycle of energy to constantly change. I believe in healing and that we are all connected. And I believe that here on earth everyone has a reason for what they do, whether it be from their childhood or otherwise and we judge that as good or evil. I think that everyone just tries to do the best they can with what they have available to them. And eventually when we “die” we judge ourselves and those who cant let go of their anger and hate are stuck and remain in this plain as ghosts. This is what I have faith in.

That is where I have a problem. There have been many Christians that come up to me and say I don’t believe in GOD at all. And they try and convert me to be a Christian and go to heaven. So I read the Bible front to back and started to go to church. Then I started to question the bible and the sermons and I was told that I had to take it on faith.

But this type of “faith” seemed different to me. I felt like someone told me that 2 + 2 = 5 and that I needed to just take it on faith. Then when I questioned it, “Shouldn’t it be four?” and I couldn’t be given a clear answer, there was no explanation than just have “faith”. But weren’t there other people and other religions that had faith in their beliefs as well?

Didn’t people have beliefs that were pagan by Christian standards such as Wiccan beliefs? And weren’t they burnt to death for their beliefs? So why aren’t they right? What makes Christian beliefs different? Did you wake up one day and just know everything in the bible without reading it or going to church? Or was your “faith” taught to you?

If it was taught then why not question it? There are so many inaccuracies in the bible. In Genesis, even in creation there are inaccuracies to Noah. How can it even be true? There are people who try and give logic to these answers, but you continue to question them and inevitable you just have to have faith.

But what are you having faith in? That Jesus is GOD and he died for your sins? For what, so that you will go to heaven? And why do you have these beliefs? So you won’t go to hell? Doesn’t that seem a little selfish? What about the other 4 billion people on earth that will inevitable go to hell? Is that not your problem or GODs? So you try and convert people. And what if you do? Do you get any extra rewards? What if you die and you see one of the people that you converted go to heaven but you are sent to hell? How will you feel? How can GOD give us this little time span and expect us to have faith in only him and if not send us to hell for all eternity? And what if you have faith but GOD still decides to send you to hell? Will you be mad at GOD? How will you feel? That is not a connection to GOD but an unwilling judgmental parent.

Think about it if you’re lucky you have 100 years here. And in that time you have to decide what will happen to your soul for all eternity. There are no clear answers here. There are hundreds of religions with thousands of different ideas. How can Christianity be the only one? How is it fair at all. We are taught to be loving and caring toward everyone. Is that really what Christianity teaches? Or does it teach fear and singularity? If you are a horrible person on earth but somehow get to heaven will you feel good about yourself? Will you be happy? What if you were a mass murderer? What if you got into heaven and saw a mass murderer standing next to you? What will you feel, what will you think? Because think about it, it is not your choice who goes into heaven, it is GODs. So again I ask what is this type of “faith”? Why be a Christian? What is your ultimate goal? Why is faith in my beliefs any different that yours? I want truthful answers and insight.

Thank you.

So, I was watching this show last night on the Discovery Channel. The show was showing the first Fetus in Fetue ever seen in an ultrasound. Highly interesting, this is when an identical twin (one ovum fertilized and spilts to form two babies) is enveloped into the body of the other more healthy twin, and becomes a parasite, continuing to grow inside... So, this mother was pregnant with a male child who was "pregnant" with his brother inside him!! WOW!! Trippy stuff!!!

So, I got to thinking.....

Is this the equivalent of a Human Turducken?? Perhaps God is a huge John Madden fan and this is his tribute to Madden??

Ok, so I have asked a couple questions about the trinity now, and have got a lot of feedback. Thanks for that everyone. Now, one last one. DO YOU BELIEVE GOD, JESUS AND THE HOLY GHOST ARE ONE BEING, OR DO YOU BELIEVE THEY ARE 3 SEPARATE BEINGS ALL WORKING TOGETHER IN UNITY, OR UNISON? this is what I want to know, some of the answers have been a little confusing. God is not a complicated being that we cant understand. While we cannot grasp the full picture, we can still understand the basics. Yes, God is the same, now, forever, and always. But in my religeon, God is the Father. Jesus is his LITERAL begotten son. they are separate beings. The are one under their works. But they are still their own. And they both have a tangible body. They Holy Ghost does not have a body, hence the name Holy Ghost. But he is a separate spirit. He will get his turn to recieve a body as well. But for now he touches our hearts to give us answers from God when we pray. Please respond.

I just don't think that believing in any religion is a fair concept of living. why? for EVERY religion told us (direct or indirect) that their religion is 'the only truth' that no other religion can take us to heaven as theirs.
Isn't it Silly? Hey man...., I Work Hard to feed my family (which is still not enough sometimes), I Help people while I can, I don't wanna do somethin bad to others...., and suddenly when I'm dead, I won't go to Heaven (or even 'Surely go to Hell') just because I'm not Christian, or Moslem, or... any of those 'the only truth'?.
It's just not fair to me. so not fair.
But I believe in Something (or Someone) much greater than us, created all this things. Even a Computer needs someone to created it, What about our brain? - I Call Him/Her 'GOD', so far-
Anyone...?

to the point that they spend too much time and effort, not to mention money, to spread so much of their opinions about Catholicism? sorry, but i just don't get it. i've started studying Catholicism for almost a month now, and there are so many misconceptions about Catholicism that i've dicovered. can anyone please enlighten this humble soul why they seem to exert so much effort in spreading their opinions? i mean, what's in it for them?

i was born with no religion whatsoever so i decided to seek for truth myself, and i have observed a lot about other religions. this is the reason why i am asking this.

My amigo Armando was cursing God because his house was destroyed by lava. I say "Hold on, Armando. You were the one that built your house at the base of an active volcano my friend."
So we debate this. God's fault or Armando's? And it can't be neither. I've got a dozen mangos riding on your responses.
