in a manner that is horrendously violent, they are instantly considered insane.

According to theologists the bible was written by people hearing the voice of god and writing down what he said.

So how is there any difference between the two?

In both examples the people are hearing voices and acting on what the voice told them to do, but one is considered insane and one not.

According to psychiatrists, just hearing voices is clinically characterized as schizophrenia or a psychotic episode.

So ultimately, how can you consider the people that wrote the bible to be any less insane than someone that drowns her children because god told her to?

I know some churches are more traditional with the old time hymns like The Old Rugged cross and Amazing grace, but lately in the past 20 years I have seen a change woships teams have singers, drums elelctic guitars and the music is more comtemporay. The words of the hymns are beatuiful but I dont always like singing them because to me the hymns sound all a like in rythym beat and method and they all seem to be in the same time signature, I like singing the comtemporary because I can harmonize with the music and it feels very deep to me. How can I have a love and passions of the hymns of old because they do express true christianity? Please forgive me but the hymns seems a little boring to me. What can I do to have a passion for different types of music that promotes Jesus Christ and how can I use the comptemoray music I enjoy to give Praise Honor glory and joy to my father in heaven. I have been sining for many years and want to use my voice to glorify God forever and always.

Everyone has the ability to discern according to God's word, but when someone has the spiritual GIFT of discernment, yet they worry constantly after making decisions, or discerning a particular person, place, or thing, what does that mean?

Also, despite their worry and anxiety, the outcome is always as they discerned it would be, as directed by God, yet the anxiety returns the next time around(but not as strong).

Is this person being spiritually tested by God, so that their faith is made stronger? Is the person being disobedient to their calling, by not immediately trusting God's guidance? How can a person be sure they have the Gift of Discernment? Is this normal? I'm especially interested in hearing from others who have the gift.

Freewill is a paradox because it states we are accountable for what choice we make.

We are not. I can only learn from what is available to me and I cannot choose what is available to me. We have the ability to choose but only within a confined context. The fact that we do not choose the level of confinement means our ability to choose is left at the whim of the confinement, something we did not have control over to begin with thus accountability is a logical fallacy.

Even if God created us on the spot 6,000 years and people established law and order, the next generation would still lack the freewill to decide whether or not they learned from the system because they did not choose the confined context. A man cannot choose what he desires. Desire comes from the confined context whether it is social interaction or genes.

Once you realize that everything follows it's natural course, that nothing is inherently evil just inevitable then you have no more reason to hate anyone.

OK, I know that many of you would say that using the Bible to prove the existence of God is "circular reasoning", but not really if we are talking about writing events and happenings in advance and being absolutelly correct in their forcast... one such prophecy is in Isaiah 7:14, written approximately 700 BC. "Behold the LORD Himself shall give you a sign! A virgin shall conceive and bear a son!!!" If you need more such "proof" then do yourself a favor and research the more than 300 such prophecies about the man Jesus and His life.

That is proof, for no one could actually write such a thing 700 years in advance; much less carry it out 700 years after the fact, unless they were some kind of supreme being. To those of you who have a whit of serious & earnest seeking of the truth, there are more than 300 of these kind of specific "to the life of Jesus" foretellings in the OLD TESTAMENT written by the prophets and scribes of ancient Hebrew tradition. Will you consider the truth of this?

So what are your thoughts on this.

In Luke 23:44-46 there is the record of darkness falling upon the land during Christ's crucifixion. "And it was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45the sun being obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit." And having said this, He breathed His last." Is there any non-biblical evidence of the day of darkness mentioned at Christ's death? The answer is yes, there is.

through my life i have found all belief to be a state of depression, reasoning with the ability to pretend, why can't people see they are here now, instead they sacrifice their own life for a manmade cause/belief. Getting to know yourself is all you can ever achieve in life. remember, even God can be an idol, am i wrong to think that knowing god would make you a true follower, not believing in him
