Christians should eliminate all KINDs of horrifying behavior ALL THE TIME on the basis that Jesus wouldn't approve, but they don't generally. It's an arrogance issue. Anybody arrogant isn't going to obey the rules or doctrines of the religions they proclaim to follow, and that goes for philosophies too... I've run into some really BAD Buddhists too.

You hit the gray area of the Bible-drinking. Yes, you can drink-but you can't get drunk...Hard one huh. It's so difficult because how do you know your tolerance level? Everyone is different-some it's one beer and they're gone-others can have 4 or five and not feel a thing. Alcohol also kinda sneaks up on you-so you are usually drunker than you thought when you first started. So to answer your question-most Christians stay away from alcohol all together because it's just too easy to hit the drunk factor-and plus we don't want alcoholics or minors see us doing something that they should be. It makes it so we aren't hypocrites. So we don't tell others not to-we suggest it as a good idea for the same reason.

Sure there are hundreds of things they should not be doing but why do what god says when you can simply change gods words to suit the times. I suppose I as an Atheist should be happy about this because if they didn't change so much I would probably currently be in some sort of encampment awaiting my extermination. but I really just see this as another reason to not believe. If gods word was perfect than what need would there ever have been to change any of it in the first place? At least Muslims stick by their beliefs, which I find much more respectable, even if it means they want to kill me or whatever BS propaganda the great media gods convince me of

Yes. Beacuse in original bible language there were two different expression for what we know as the wine. First was a grape juice without alchocol, used for religious services and for private use as well. The other wine was alchoholic drink. Jesus turned water into grape juice, and the same type of drink he used for the last supper. Also, Bible speaks against use of alchocol in Proverbs 20:1:
"Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
In First Timothy 3:2.3:
"A bishop then must be blameless, .. sober...not given to wine."
So any use of alchoholic wine in service or private goes against these verses.

I am a christian and have been for 30 years. Many christian traditions are just that. traditions and many are not based on truth. Jesus drank fermented wine along with most all the Gods people in the Bible. Drinking booze is not condemned in the bible. it is used in many jewish celebrations from the beginning. booze like anything else is not bad in itself, but it can be. food is not bad, but the bible condemns gluttony. infact, gluttony is mentioned more than drunkeness, but you never hear christians talk much about that. is it wrong to eat food? of course not. but a person who has a weakness of eating too much sweets, it would be wrong for that person to go to a donut shop. likewise, if a person cannot drink without getting addicted to it or cant stop without getting drunk and ruinning there testimony, it is wrong. it is also wrong for a christian to drink around other christians, or non-christians who think it is wrong to drink. when your drinking becomes a stumbling block to someone else, than it is wrong. it would be wrong to eat chocolate cake if front of someone who has a problem resisting chocolate cake cause they have been or is still struggling with thier weight. paul said all thing are lawfull, but not all things are necessary. paul said concerning eating meat, that it o.k. to eat meat, but not if eating meat offends the people who are weak in faith in this area. like i said, the main thing is not to offend others.

Most Christians do not see a problem with drinking alcohol in moderation. There are many references in the Bible to not being drunk, but Jesus turned water into wine, so I don't see that it is completely taboo.

Jesus would approve, He made wine from water at the Wedding in Cana,... drunkeness is a sin, drinking is not. Just like gluttony is a sin and eating is not.
