I had a discussion with a (religious) friend if God existed or not.

My problem with God is that there is no proof of him except the Bible that is clearly WRITTEN BY US. - That doesn't prove anything.

The only reason people believes in God is that their parents (or someone else) convinced them to believe in him. Still no proof.

I can’t understand that so many believe in something nobody can prove.

God was made up back in the days when we couldn’t explain science so we made a desperate back-up. Now I don’t see any reason to still believe in him.

Sure, I can’t prove that he doesn’t exist either. But you can’t prove that the cookie-monster that rules the sky doesn’t exist either – why don’t don’t you believe in him instead?

What do you think?

I would say male, He manifested Himself in the flesh as Jesus, Jesus is God, Jesus was male, so I'd say God is male, but this is just my oppinion.

what makes u think ur religion is the right one? i mean if ur someone that belives in hell then why are u praying to some one that might not even be real? the real god might not "deem u worthy" and send u to hell. and if ur someone that belives that peace and kindness is the awnser (i dont really know if theres a religion that belives that) but u should face the fact that world peace is never gonna happen at this rate. if ur someone that belives that everyone who is good does go to heaven, think about it god is apperantly very smiteful and you might go to hell. and people who think that religious stuff isnt real (like myself) should still do something religious every now and then, like praying or something, cause we could be wrong to.

From men you expect killing and routing cities and blind obedience to a male GOD. But a woman's point of view I would like to hear.

I really don't understand the lack of individual or conceptual thought from the hard-core religious members here.

It seems that they follow faith blindly assuming that any mishap in life is based on the actions of a higher power and that this is all which may resolve any faults. This assumption gives no lee-way for individual thought or any further theoretical development. In my opinion this blind faith is an attempt to remove personal blame from one's actions.

I'm not trying to segregate anyone here for their beliefs but I would simply like to ask as to why some, as opposed to answering a question, would not attempt to provide personal opinion but instead would post bible verses or simply 'Hold faith in God' as a response to complicated questions...

It certainly looks like that now. Religion violence is really getting out of hand.

Why didn't Muhammed or Jesus know this? Why did Muhammed call them the holy word of God? Were they corrupted before Christ? Were they corrupted after Christ? Before or after Muhammed? when the Jews and Christians had differing veiws how would one or both of them corrupt both the Torah and Injeel in such a way that they agree without anyone noticing even Christ and Muhammed? Why do they still agree with books written that predate Muhammed? if he called them the holy word of God how is it those who follow him call them corrupt? How is they all agree with the resurrection of Christ but the Qur'an does not?

Evolution happened and continues to happen. End of story.

What scares the fundies so much about science? It disproves the first few paras of Genesis - so what? Does your god deflate every time another scientic paper proving evolution is published?

Relax guys. Evolution is real and your god still exists, at least in your head.

There is a group of people on the earth that are called the alluminadi. are they righteous and do they serve the Will of God? or are they satanic and fill the world with conspiracies and ungodly acts. I know their is a Scripture that talks about 24 elders in heaven that rule with Christ. I believe these are the true aluminati, the true enlightened ones, but the ones on earth are corrupt and servants of satan. They borrow the name of the BETTER and defraud the world through their sorceries. see Rev 18:23
