I really don't understand the lack of individual or conceptual thought from the hard-core religious members here.

It seems that they follow faith blindly assuming that any mishap in life is based on the actions of a higher power and that this is all which may resolve any faults. This assumption gives no lee-way for individual thought or any further theoretical development. In my opinion this blind faith is an attempt to remove personal blame from one's actions.

I'm not trying to segregate anyone here for their beliefs but I would simply like to ask as to why some, as opposed to answering a question, would not attempt to provide personal opinion but instead would post bible verses or simply 'Hold faith in God' as a response to complicated questions...

Good one. I agree with you that it would seem as if as the norm, Bible thumpers do not even try to establish reasoning when answering any religious query. I would venture to say that this comes from the same mindset that in the old days anyone questioning a scripture or a doctrine would be put to death or excummunicated from society. That fear may be something passed down from preacher to student just racism and such is passed down from parent to child.

The question is, "What fills that restless hole in YOUR heart?"

As far as why we quote scripture from the Bible instead of answering in our own words sometimes, is because we believe that the Word of God is very powerful, and will do the recipient a lot more good in coming to an understanding of faith than our own words would do.

What seems to appear to you as blind faith really isn't. We don't just read the Bible and do what it says. The very first interaction between God and a human being which leads to that "blind faith" is the moment of realization that we have sinned, God is holy, and we are not worthy to come to Him.

Then we become really grateful to God for the Jesus Christ plan which allows us access to Him.

After that, faith grows by reading and studying the Bible and everything you have learned gets reinforced by the different lessons and stories therein.

Simply put, after we have placed our trust in how to live our lives in God, we work backwards from that conclusion on each and every issue that ever comes up. (well, we're supposed to, but we fail a lot).

I hope this sheds some understanding for you. Your question was so well framed and polite, I had to spend a lot of time on my answer.

[Spirituality for $200, Trebek.] What is a delusion?

Following God may be best attributed to following emotion rather than reason. Ie. He is created out of a need for a cushion, real or imagined, for the fall that is aging and death. It is challenging to argue this point with a fundamentalist on a factual, scientific, or practical level because invoking classical logical fallacies in response to argument can simply lead to them shutting you out as a "heathen" or other pejorative.

Fnord!

You are quite right to view your opinion, Because we all see things differently
and we all believe in different things to a point, Bible verses are the word of God, and when you are a Christian you have to abide in the word, and i guess that why a lot of us give out Bible verses because to us it is the truth. But not only that But God can also give us verses as well.
I know you don't believe but do you know God can work in people that don't believe and he can change your heart, Jesus loves all of us and he loves you to
May God Bless you

I don't remove personal blame from my actions. What I do is, when I sin I ask Jesus Christ to forgive me. I have believe and have faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It says in the Bible to become more Christlike, we're not perfect like Jesus, we're sinners, so when we sin we need to ask for forgiveness.
