The NWT adds the word "[the]" to the phrase "of our God and savior Jesus Christ" in 2pet 1:1. 2pet1:11, 2:20, and 3:18, which contain the same exact phrase in the Greek with the exception that these verses contain the word "lord" (kyrios) instead of the word "God" (Theos), but don't have the word"[the]" added to them. See Greek-interlinear. What is the reason for this gross of inconsistency in translation of this phrases? How would 2pet1:1 read if it had been translated the same way as 2Pet 1:11, 2:20, and 3:18, and the word"[the]" had not be added? What does scripture say about adding words to the bible? See Prov 30:5-6

Matthew chapter 1 describes the genealogy from Abraham and King David to connect it with Jesus. Verse 1:16 says, "And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ." This suggests that Joseph was the father of Jesus linking Jesus to Kind David, thus fulfilling the prophesy in Isaiah that the messiah would be a descendant of King David.

But according to Matthew 1:18 - 25 Mary was "found with child of the Holy Spirit." So Joseph really wasn't the father of Jesus, thus Jesus was not a descendent of King David, which means he wasn't the messiah.

What am I missing?

In 2002 the religious right of Cobb County, Georgia voted in favor of placing stickers in public school science books in order to cast doubt on the theory of evolution in favor of their religious conviction*. Luckily this was ruled unconstitunional in 2005 and overturned.

My question is: How would christians feel if the government passed a law that required that every bible had a warning sticker inside that read something like this: "Ideas contained in this book have little to no evidence to support them. Most of the stories have been adapted from earlier religious beliefs. This book should be read with an open and critical mind."?

Somehow this seems more justified than the schoolbook stickers of Cobb County, GA.... Your thoughts?

What are your thoughts on this verse? What do you think it means to receive Jesus? He said "I am the truth, the way and the life, no man comes to the Father accept by me" What do these verses mean to you?

I'm not black or hispanic, so they cant assume with me like they can with them since blacks and hispanics are all christians anyway. So why would people assume that i'm dumb enough to be a christian? I'm not any religion so no one should tell me god bless you or any other retardation like that

I have a good friend who is pretty sure of His nonexistance, and there was an excellent oppurtunity and hopefully will be again tomorrow to talk about this sort of thing. I think I made him defensive today.

Does anyone know any way to reach out without scaring them away? Like a technique... I heard ask them what they believe happens after death, and after that, tell them about God... er... I don't know. Please help!

Please, i don't want to hear from you if you're simply responding with an anti-Christian comment. (I do love you anyway though!)
