Here's the trinity of holidays this week:

10/31 Halloween - All Hallow's (Saints) Evening. Which is the Eve of All Saint's Day

11/1 All Saint's Day - All Hallow's (Saints) Day. This is the day you're supposed to pray for the saints.

11/2 All Soul's Day - This is the day you're supposed to pray for all people who have passed during the preceding year.

Officially known as the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, it is always on November 2nd. It corresponds to Mexico's Dia de los Muertos. Whereas All Saints Day is a celebration of those who are in heaven, this day is properly observed praying on behalf of those who have died and have yet to be completely purified for heaven. (It is very Catholic.)
