Atheism is the disbelief[1] in the existence of deities.[2][3][4] It is commonly defined as the explicit (i.e., conscious and deliberate), positive rejection and denial of theism;[5][6] however, others—including most atheistic philosophers and groups—define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[7][8][9] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics and people who have never heard of gods, such as newborn children, as atheists as well.[10][11] The former, narrower usage defines atheism positively, as the belief that no gods exist; the latter, broader usage, however, defines atheism negatively, as the absence of belief in gods. In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism for the former and latter, respectively, to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief or of negative unbelief.[12]
Although many self-described atheists share common skeptical concerns regarding empirical evidence for spiritual or supernatural claims, citing a lack of evidence for the existence of deities, explicit atheism is inspired by a variety of rationales, ranging from the personal to the philosophical to the social to the historical. Additionally, while there is a tendency among such atheists toward secular philosophies such as humanism, naturalism and materialism, there is no single ideology that all atheists adhere to, nor does atheism have any institutionalized rituals or behaviors.[13]
Although atheism is very often equated with irreligion or nonspirituality in Western culture,[14] not all atheists are necessarily irreligious or nonspiritual. Some religious and spiritual beliefs, such as several forms of Buddhism, have been described by outside observers as atheistic (under the broader, negative definition of atheism) due to their lack of any participating deities.[15] Atheism is also sometimes erroneously equated with antitheism (opposition to theism) or antireligion (opposition to religion), despite many atheists not holding such views.

No, that is not atheism at all. The Sadduccee brand of Judaism believed exactly that. In more recent times, Deists believe that as well.
Incidentally, there are some atheists who might accept the idea of an afterlife. For instance, many consider those buddhists who lack belief in a God to be sort of atheists.... even though these same buddhists will tend to believe in both reincarnation and the possibility of nirvana.

No. The only thing all atheists have in common is that we do not believe in any deities. No gods, that is what qualifies someone as one.
Although beyond that beliefs can vary. You could technically be an atheist and have interest in an 'afterlife' concept (with no gods), but you can't do the reverse and still be one.

No it would be an agonistic which is someone that knows there is a creator. You know that someone or somethng created life, but you dont necesarly believe that there is Christ or what the Bible teaches. An atheist does not think that there is any creator what so ever and that life just came to be because thats the way it is.

you may not be an atheist, just someone who does not believe in what the bible says. There is a small booklet entitled "the reason why" by robert laidlaw written a long time ago that has converted hundreds of thousands to christianity. It is a very good study on the ys and wherefores. It is 30 something pages, read it available at amazon.com under 4 bucks includes shipping. Good luck I believe in what the bible says, and that Jesus is the only son of God who willingly gave his life for my sins and your sins. a2J

Yes, despite religion, everyone came from something. This is only personal philosophy. Everyone thinks about it. Look at several religious people. Are they being religious by not accepting others. There are many people who call themselves a person of a certain religion without having that certain faith... a lot of people... Don't listen to people who tell you that you can't be something because of a certain reason. Reason with yourself. You can believe in anything and still be atheist. It is impossible to not believe in anything! Heck, Everyone is Buddhist no matter of what faith you are!

No. Atheists do not believe there is a creator. Science has many theories for the origins of life.

No, if you believe in a superior creator, you aren't an atheist. But I wouldn't care much about labels. Be true to what you believe, no matter what it's called...
