I'll give you my own interpretation, although this might not get me the 10 points...
"For as many as received Jesus, He gave the ..." means only by following the teachings of Jesus, the representative of God, can we be united with God.
On second thought, the teachings of Jesus may not be the only way. In fact, the truth is not about following Jesus, BUT the "Christ" of God that is present in Jesus. In Hinduism, Lord Krishna also possess the essence of God's Christ. So by following Lord Krishna's teachings, we can also achieve Christhood and reach God.
"Christ" (or Christo by some) may be the same God-essence that was propounded by Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, as Buddha (realization/enlightenment). The only difference may be that one is in english (Christ), another in Hindu (Krishna) and another in Pali or whatever (Buddha) that refer to the one and only God-essence that we must achieve to reach God.
"..., no man comes to the Father accept by me" may mean no man may be united with God except through the attainment of "Christhood", "Krishnahood" or "Buddhahood".

Unless we can start redeeming every thousand points mark with say vouchers for beer (or wine if that be your preference) I fail to see any worthwhile reason to the whole idea of accruing points? I'm serious. It's like achievements earned when completing games on the Xbox 360 in reality about as much use as a chocolate fire surround. Hence probably though the reason why when someone asks an inane question like the date of Mozart's birthday why we then get like twenty answers all essentially saying the same thing when one answer would usually suffice. To those individuals, what's wrong with simply leaving a thumbs up? Oh yes that's right you won't receive a worthless couple of imaginative points. They are not a barometer for measuring anything of any substance or certainly of any worth. Yes best answers are a bit different but they could be awarded devoid of any points tally. As regards best answers that aren't picked and the huge amount that end up in a public vote. This certainly needs fixing. I don't know if anyone is aware but you can actually vote for your own answer. Now I find that to be downright dishonest because how can you be sure that the individual is being upright and truly evaluating all the answers given and fairly picking the best one totally free of bias towards their own response already submitted. Well in truth we can't so the whole process of best answers is infected and as such can never give a true assessment of any individual.

well, frankly, Frank, I wished you would have put down what chapter and verse you got that from.
Receive Jesus. Just think about Him, and He's there. That's the beauty of it. That's the simplicity of it. He's my Mecca.
He's right beside you waiting for you to invite him in.
For communion, I cannot say. That is much too personal for the internet, since I do not know who will read these words. Needless to say, just thinking about it is so profound it can take my breath away. He is so eager, he waits so patiently for this acknowledgement, I cannot tell you stridently enough his attitude.
The second part: "no man comes to the father..." This means that God cannot be sullied, and goes hand in hand with: "God so loved the world that he gave his only son." When God sees His son rallying to the cause of his friends (of whom I hope I am one), He cannot say no.
Those are my thoughts. Humbly yours, StoryJunkie

It means that the only way to get into heaven is through Jesus Christ. There is also another way, but it is impossibe (to be perfect) God gave is ONLY son so that we can live forever in Heaven with Him! I don't care what all of the evolution believing people out there say.....GOD IS REAL! And if anyone else doesn't believe that then I am sorry but enjoy (as much as you can since you can enjoy the fullness of life without God) this short life that you live here on earth because after you die you WILL perish in hell.

If you have believed and trusted in what the Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross for you then you are a child of God. He died for your sins. He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. When you believe the Spirit seals you unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4: 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. The Spirit cut away the soul from the body with a operation made without hands. Colossians 2: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: The Spirit baptizes you into the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Romans 8: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Why try to complicate this very simple passage? If you never knew your earthly father and someone introduced you to him you would be in the same position. Do you receive him or not? The Bible is very clear on the sacrifice Jesus made of His own life that we could pray and access our Father God. We pray through Jesus to God. It's so simple. Why do people try to make this so complicated?

To receive does not mean to imitate other people in claiming: I am a Christian.
It means to learn the Truth that He teaches and to live obediently as He does towards His Divine Father.
All men are the children of God, but the obedient ones are drawing nearer to Him.

By faith accepting what Christ has done for me justifies me and clears me of all past sin, and by faith receiving Him daily into my heart (thoughts) He will empower me to keep His commandments. I then become sanctified. Sanctification is a lifetime work. Without this active work in my life with the daily purging of sin, I will never be with His Father.

what i think of this verse is that we christians should become more like Jesus, accept him into our lives and live "out" his life to the world, to let the world see God's image in us. So as we go throught our journey of faith, we'll become more like Jesus and will get closer to God. ^^

If we accept the free gift of salvation by the grace of God through faith in His son Jesus Christ, we are adopted into the family of Christ.
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT) His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure.
By accepting the propitiation of Christ we may put on the robes of righteousness and dwell in the house of the Lord.
Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.
