then we created Him to explain us and the critters... In our own image no less.
Imagine that, a contradiction in the bible.

Okay, I had to look that one up. Genesis 7-20 talks about God forming man and the garden of Eden and how Adam was to look after it. Then in verses 19-20 it says God HAD formed the animals and that Adam was to name them. It say nothing about God making man first.

Genesis 1:20 - 28 says that God made every living soul, animal and man on the 5th and 6th day. v. 20-23 He makes the fish and birds, v.24-31 He makes the land animals and man.
Chapter 2 is a more involved discussion of how God related to His creation and exact events in regards to man and his role on earth.
If you read more slowly through the chapters, you will see this plainly.

God created the wild animals and live stock according to their kind, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:25)
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. (Genesis 1:26)
In Genesis 2:19, it reads, Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them: and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
Therefore God made the animals, livestock and birds of the air first. He made man second. Third, he brought the animals to man for him to name them.

The earth is 4 billion years old. Animals evolved from 3 billion years BP until now. Man evolved from the common ancestor of chimps about 5 million years ago. Modern humans have been on earth about 100,000 years.
The bible does not provide answers on these issues because it was written thousands of years before scientific method was devised. Read science, not the bible or koran for the real answers.

In Genesis 1 is an orderly account of what He did and when He did it.
In Genesis 2 is given more of an explanation ... and focusing on mankind.
The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone.
I will make a suitable partner for him".
[ knowing He was going to do this, therefore he formed the various animals ... ]
So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air,
[ on the days as explained in Genesis 1 ]
and [afterwards] he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name.

God created the beasts, the fowls of the air, and the fishes of the sea spiritually (Genesis 1: 21) before He created them physically of the earth (Genesis 2: 19).
Subsequent to their creation, God commanded Adam to name them all (Genesis 2:19) before Eve was brought forth to him.

In the first passage it states livestock, creatures that move along the ground , and wild animals, but in the second passage it states the beasts of the field. There has got to be a difference between the two, or it wouldn't have been stated that way. By the way we did not evovlve from animals.

God Did Create many things and fo your kind information he created all creatures and plants. He created man last and man ( Adam ) was the top of everything he created and gave him these creatures to name them. Then He said that he was pleased with all that He saw.
So God created everything and created man last to enjoy what he has created.
