Heck, everyone knows that we've got the best of both worlds. We can live our entire lives like rational human beings, certain of logic, facts and evidence, (aka sinning) and then if, in the unlikely event we get too frightened of damnation, an instant before we die we can just denounce it all like a 5 year old saying they're sorry, and accept Jesus and God.

I mean, wow! It's the best of both worlds. What a way to get over on the big omniscient being upstairs. Guess he/she/it didn't forsee this.

I keep hearing that god is loving and yet:" I will kill you and torture you for eternity unless you worship me" doesn't sound like a loving person to me, it sounds kind of like Josef Stalin. If god is truly loving, would he have to resort to blackmail? Couldn't he just destroy hell and not torture people for eternity because they don't worship him?

Really, how is this love and not blackmail and threats?

(And don't just say that god gives you the option to believe in him so you can go to heaven, because he predetermines everything and therefore, since he controls everything and created everything, he created Islam and Budhism and Satanism and Atheism.)

If God knows that I am going to eat steak for breakfast in the morning, do I have the power to refrain from eating steak? Is it possible that God knows indeterminate things as indeterminate? For example, quantum events or acts of free will.

would you live by the same moral code you do now?

From the responses I received in my last question ("Life and after-life, reward and punishment?"), the answer would be yes.

If so, would you agree that morality and god are not exclusive?

Although I'm sure everyone has their own theory on what happens after death.........I would like your answers to be based on Bible scriptures only and what does the Bible say happens after death? Do you directly go to heaven or does your spirit go sort of into a holding pattern until Christ returns?? My Mom died, and I was wondering if her spirit is somewhere now or is she sleeping until Jesus returns?

Becoming like Christ is a long, slow process of growth.

Your spiritual transformation in developing the character of Jesus will take the rest of your life, and even then it won't be completed here on earth. It will only be finished when you get to heaven or when Jesus returns.

What do you think about this..... can we eventually be like Jesus? or what's your perspectives on this?

There was a question asked earlier with some not so nice words attached. This guy never said he was christian, yet most responses to the question accused him of being so. Is this not stereotyping as well? Why is it when someone says they believe in God, they automatically think the God of Christianity? Are people so biased against a certain group that they, instead of answering a question logically, like to jump to conclusions and accuse others? I didnt think this was how grown ups acted!

I tend to see a pattern on this site. The religion of Christianity is often argued, bashed, critisized, and spoken harshly against compared to any other religion. Granted, i have seen quite a few people degrade those of the Islamic and Jewish faiths as well, but not to the great extent as that of Christianity. I also have noticed that when a Christian speaks back to defend their faith, they are critized for trying to convert?

Why is this?
Why is it wrong to defend your faith, or to have faith at all?
And does it seem that some athiests on this site want to convert Christians than vice versa?
